4 3/4" red rim on TUBELESS duro Tyres , Stainless 20mm ID bearings and Stainless Spacers

Used at the moose and on flat non puddled sand with great results.

I have Kenda tyres incoming , or so the importer says ! And i have asso rims which suit the XX buggy rather well so im letting these go. Make an offer i cant refuse

Almost tempted if it wasn't for the quiver on order. Then I could turn the Moosetruck into a 5-wheeler!

hey an even sillier idea is make the moose train and then have 5 or 6 riders in the back also flying kites powering the train!
you could create a whole new world record.
"the worlds fastest multi-kite powered train"
sorta like the rowing 8 but with kites.

May I offer my services to capture this event for posterity?

1. Someone is sure to tangle.
2. Someone is likely to OBE.
3. Someone will attempt to convince the group to powerslide.
4. Someone will likely attempt all of the above in the 100m it takes to come about.
5. Something unplanned or ubelievably silly will happen.

We should definitely do this!

Whatever you do, don't put Mr. Melchior in the lead!

well if you trained all the way from muriwai to the moose your'd only have to turn for the return trip.
i imagine syncronised flying like a mexican wave to some form of chant.
"camp town ladies sing there song
Sign up
do dar do dar
sign down
camp town road is 5 miles long sign up etc"

of course some one will have to supply all the same kite me flying a 10m manta and someone flying a 2m blurr would just be silly.

Hence the increased propensity for conflicted flightpath and depiloted wheel-craft!

There will be shunting. There will be Muriwai mud on the faces of the rearward pilots. It will be a blast!

If it was really synchronised it would look rather organic like a centipede x butterfly creature. Glad you already thought of a song but there may be too many giggles from that one!

I can see the cop now, walking the line of kiters,
"who was driving"
"not me officer"
"I was only singing, when the nose to tail happened"

LET DO IT

WHO'S IN ?

and all we need is some measurements of all the buggys
front axle dia;
front axle width;
back axle dia;

PLEASE NOTE THIS THREND IS A BIG FOOT WHEELS ONLY
so little foots need not apply

and some spare time

I think I've still got 4.30 to 5.30am free

but were there's a silly idea I've aways got time

Good work Gannet! What's the average axle diameter here? 1.25" to ~2"? I'll make another when I have a moment.

Only had half an hour 'my time' yesterday to do a little threading for some of the buggy bits. I was thinking of Plummet caning Orewa while I was doing my urgent bit of gardening.

my axle is 1.5"pipe s/s
libre is 1.25" steam pipe
some PL are 1.5" tube s/s
and the big PL is 2"" tube s/s

my 1.5"axle is 316L s/s, and is already bent
from the wheel kit in the moose go figger

the 1.25'steam pipe is stronger that the s/s 1.5"

I've got some more pipe clamps coming to fit the libre axles

but if you just make it suit front and back of your buggy, like the photo as this has worked well for years with the kids buggy trailer

the boss on the clamp is 10mm (10mmx35 hex bolt with lock nut)so if you make your own your buggy will fit in the daisy chain

yup , I had kiddy events sat and sunday tryed to go kite fishing sun arvo but the tide was trying to eat the truck(rav4)

well there wasn't much canning going on on orewa on saturday as there was no wind until 12.30 and then it was only around 5-8knots! but it did skid around on what sand was left (low tide 9.30). ps the wind was cross on so no chance of fanging the whole beach... downer. io wanted to go fast....

Mine has always been 1.5" OD but the Moosetruck is some oddball tube I had spare - something just under 2". My trick for making them stay straight is to suspend another +1" tube down the middle with a couple of spacers. Similar in concept to adding the "towel-rail" on the outside - just prettier. Moosetruck is getting a beefier 1.25" down the middle... just easier to weld the 1" stub axles onto.

I though it would be just as simple to make a standard 2" pipe clamp with plastic inserts for 1.25" and 1.5" axles.

Sweet. I'll make a front axle sleeve with a tab and a rear fixture to my axle with a 10mm bolt on it. At least for the old bigfoot till the Moosetruck is ready.

...and unless they go before my kites sell I might take those reds of you Jimmy22!

Got an offer I cannot resist so the workshop is soon storage for 6 Reds and 3 BF-classics. Which also adds 5-wheel adapters to the Moosetruck project list. I may be creating a monster and know not how to stop...

Which begs the question... does 5 Reds fit in the station wagon along with the rest of the kit?

I have a Moose trailer happening too. Mostly complete bar the nosecone box to hold BBQ and the lid is waiting on some glass and paint. There's already a set of roof-bars made to go on the trailer lid to take the Moosetruck fully assembled and with 500mm sides leaves a lot of room for other kit inside it.

Would hate to tow the trailer for Orewa trips though...
