Dont do the 'Where are the helmets?' thing guys. Appreciate the vid for what it is. We had the helmet brigade slating everyone over here for ages. Jus leave it. It they wanna ride without helmets, then let em, its their head...

I don't mind people not wearing helmets. I just don't like the thought of my tax $$ paying for their lifetime of medical care becuase they take simple safety precautions.

On the other hand if people take the right precautions and have some bad luck then it's only right they should be well covered.

Basically I don't want to pay for someone else being stupid. I do enough of that myself. :wink:

Ask any 'Ambo' what they think about Head Injuries / what they've seen happen to families after Head Injuries. 170 NZers are admitted to Hospital every week with Head Injuries.
I believe that the people who ride without Helmets simply do not understand the consequences, and / or need to experience life in the real world.

It also annoys the living hell out of me that my hard earned tax $$$$ is being spent on ongoing Hospital care for those who choose to not wear Helmets - money that should not have to be spent.

here's my take on helmetless riders.

i too believe if your not wearing a helmet you don't understand the dangers your putting yourself in. I would have killed, maimed, or brain damaged myself on at least 4 to 5 occasions ( in various sports) over the years had i not been wearing a helmet.

Butch you are right in one respect if you don't want to wear a helmet its your choice. IF your an unsponsered hack like myself zipping around on a beach nigel no mates. my helmet or no helmet will influence no body.

However if you are one of the Best riders in the world fully sponsered and broard casting your actions around the world then it is a different case!
You and other top riders are role models for the up and coming young kiters. Whether you know it or not you have a very big influence on them. If you charge around with your picture in mags and in videos etc without a helmet then the young guys will look at you and say i don't need a helmet!
You could be directly responsible for some poor kid killing himself.

I also believe the magazines should understand their influence and not publish pictures of riders unless they are wearing helmets.
