Nothing like a good run down a hill on tar seal to get the blood pumping, though not sure on the crossing on the centre line must have been a very quiet road.

lol, i love how you've come to a kite forum and even bothered to ask if it should be wind or motor powered...

its a comfort thing I guess I thought you would feel like your in control when powered by wind lol definately a lot safer rolling down big hills freely and yes very quiet country road with no alcohol involved although I think there should have been! Now with all the bugs blown out I can strap the kites on and give it a burst in the park before the powdercoaters So are there any locals here in Tauranga I can hook up with to pick there brains or go for a blat with??

it clocked 65km with the front wheel bearing tweaked up a bit just to slow it down but im not to sure what im looking at speed wise till its on the beach in hurricane winds lol I have a naish 16mtr, 8mtr Pepper II or a 4.something kite surfer so hopefully one of those will start the flux capacitor and well be off (with the buggy attached!)

searched the net and found the most comfortable looking one (more distance than air) and came up with this option and cheaper for me to source the steel/aluminium than buy an industrial sewing machine to create the cockpit area and those monsters on the deck come from wheelco at $95.00 each and they have alsorts to choose from. I went to this chunky size as I envisage sliding, gripping and then the spectacular flip just before I give up and buy a sedate remote control land yacht! its hopefully going to Honk and with the 3 seater clipped onto the back of it hopefully it will be better than a day at the circus!!! and look like it should be in one!

That is a one monster of a buggy. Take care with those tyres on grass as they provide heaps of grip which makes slowing down harder than on a standard buggy. Let us know what top speed you get out of it. I think in the right conditions with a long enough run 80 kmph+ would be possible though on a hard surface you might get a lot of rolling resistance and viabration from those treaded tyre.

wow! love yah buggy! and for only 300!! looks very well made!

be carefully with your kite size, 16m will be to big unless you want BIG air time!!
a 8m pepper should be good for 6-12 knots. and a 4m kite to 15 kts, would a good sizes to start with.
you dont need a very big kite to get moving on a buggy. even a 2m will get you moving ok

Cheers for that, I think this will be the 1st of just a few as seems quite a good thing to get into speed wise as its cheap with little expense to do it and no ongoing costs unless damage involved!! Ive just been told about a buggy run I guess some of you guys have up around muriwai (if thats how its spelt) every year can anyone let me know what the guts of that puppy is as I still might have time for my flight suit to be made but if not I guess ill pull the wolverine costume out just one last time...lol

make sure you do some good corrosion proofing on that steel beast. rust will be the killer of it on the beach.

i think the fasted buggier in nz has done a touch over 100kph. so theres a goal for you. going 50-60kph can be achieve is quite light winds!

looks good dude, that should last a while

i nickel plated my steel parts and powder coated, but you could galv it and paint it too. The front axle hangers look awesome, but a bit deadly :eek . Muriwai is the spot , we are going there on friday saturday this week , right to the top. get a 3-4m kite and a 2m kite to begin with in 4 line parafoil . Lighter winds mean a 6-8m is required but its best to start with less power. Come up and visit us lot in the sand dunes one day when you have a kit of kites and can do the flat stuff pretty well

Cheers for that, I was just waiting to see if I needed to weld anymore brackets or other bits on frame before getting dipped but I think all is pretty well finished now so final test this coming weekend then if all goes well grind the sharp pointy bits off (a lot of points) sand the rust and of to get nickel and disgusting colour powdercoating done, then to the beach seeing as I live just accross the road from papamoa shouldnt be to longer drive lol

Well managed to get the 4mtr tied onto this little unit and have a test in about 8 knot winds and wouldnt you know the police turned up.....just to have a look at what the hell was going on but after talking to them I couldnt get them to have a go or even set up a speed check for me so lucky I had the gps and it only clocked 45kph before I had to drop the kite in fear of running out of park so ill take that as a sucessful 1st kite attached experience but looking for about a 2.6mtr kite I feel before bringing out the 8mtr!!! still its all good and a heap of fun so I might get another one thats about 10kgs to take the fear out of flipping!
