Ok so January is here and that means that the Nelson Summer Kite Fest will be happening in a couple of weeks.

The dates are:

Friday 16th
Saturday 17th
Sunday 18th

Normally friday is powerkite riders day.....Sat is a practice/ride day and sunday brings the public show kites with a small amount of riding when the wind allows.

Accomodation: Camping on Neale Park. There are showers and toilets and bbq's for cooking.

I EXPECT TO SEE A GOOD CHCH CREW GOING UP!!!! If you need a ride let me know.

We need to learn some more tricks before we go! cant be just throwing basic rolls and grabs all weekend...

other than 720*s(which we are starting to land) what comes next? anyone got creative ideas? i dont mind getting beat up while learning...

Man, if there's wind then I'll be doing some 360 board offs and stuff, but I have this nagging feeling that my sabre is in need of lookig at, it's nowhere near as fast and lifty as it used to be without mad wind...

ah well, with luck I'll have my handle and be able to practice some next week with you guys

We've had some issues with family and we basically want to get moved here soon as, and will be staying till it's done.

Bummer. Just misssed you at the beach the other day when you were chatting to nathan. Zenon, Symptom, Spiglord and I went out for a night sess last night from 10pm til about 12.30am it was awesome the moon was nearly full wind was about 10knots ideal for cruising in the dark and its was a spring tide so all the debris had been pushed up the beach and there was heaps of beach. We made it all the way to the wiamak and back. I have to put it in my top 10 kiting experience it was so cool and the kites look awesome in the dark lit by the moon and the stars in the background.

Will have to go out for a night fly one time soon, not done that in ages (I tied glowsticks to the kite last time too)
Gonna go out in a bit (know it's not the best, I don't care ) then will see you at the pub if I don't see you at the beach. It's the good bastard pub in woolston btw ^^

it was actually decent enough to jump a bunch, a lot windier than it looked.
Sadly I put the kite away badly last time and spent a bunch of time sorting that mess out before flying for about 15 minutes.
Hope the wind is decent for nelson that's for sure

well this year has been the best since i started going four years back.

mean wind but a shame about the small turnout compared to some other years... may upload some photos later but it will be mostly of the chch crew as we were pretty much the only riders putting in the effort...
