a flexifoil blurr has hit the shops, Kiteworks has a 5.0m , getting demo'd on sunday this week at the moose if all goes well. We will have yaks, blade 3 and 4 and reactors to try gainst the mighty new blurr so it had better bring its "A game". looks good already though, blade stability and better than blade speed, maybe its the ultimate non racers kite for 2008 ? but how far away is the peter lynn euro bred race kite ?!?

Having said that yes i have the 5.0m Chch demo Blurr! This weekend isnt looking great in terms of weather so prob wont be able to ride with it then but keep fingers crossed.

Bah humbug! Spent my yearly kite budget on an 11m Ozone Instinct Edge and new brood has dedicated access to the remainder. Instead I'll build me a fresh new buggy and live vicariously through someone else!

Fear mah C-quad!

I was, but the truth is really that I'm scared i might like it, a lot. The same motivation that had me buying the Instinct!

I saw the invite. Is the crew collecting at the creek or heading up to the heads?

i think it will be in vehicles to the moose, are you in ?

We meet oposite the firestation at the turn off to the north carpark normally, there is a grass triangle there to park on.

will your vehicle handle the trip or do you need a ride ?

I'm gagging for a sesh. My vehicle can and has but it's too much of a sand/rust trap. :? However I'm happy to give it a miss this time and get some work done so I have a clear summer schedule and a new buggy to play with otherwise I'll never catch up!

Soon as I have the enclosed trailer sorted it will also help dragging kit around without full disassembly or getting sand in everything. As it is my buggies are getting to big to even fit in my car without pulling them appart. The new design is definitely on par with the Superbug and the Dominator.

So much fuss over a little bridled foil kite?

My advice: wait for this season. PL is releasing some new stuff which will be sure to knock your socks off!

.... and it will be far cheaper than the blurr. I can pretty much guarantee that... 8)

i do already own 2 reactors, but to be fair the blade 4 is a legendary kite and i think the blurr is one step better for buggies so its worth a bit of fan fare. I see there are PL race kites being developed in europe and that PL is working on a depowerable foil but there is very little PR about this, perhaps some nibbles of information to generate a buzz might help

I have a soft spot for PL gear , but i do also give credit where i believe it is due. If you want to send up some prototypes via Kite works Auckalnd, Im sure we will have lots to talk about the PL too. Its weird some times that i find out PL stuff from england and europe before the NZ web site, we dont even have the mkII folding buggy here its little wonder i havent been excited since the synergy ...

Same reason we find out about everything on overseas websites before the NZ sites update it. Everything is made overseas now days. Even PL is made in holland not NZ.

Blizz. We could say the same thing about the PL stuff. Its just another cheap foil. But everyone to there own. I never really got to test all the PL kit that was realeased not long ago. But i will hold judgement on it till i fly one.

The blurr is here and ready to be used tested and commented on by all those who give it a test.

DAMMIT no one sends me kites to try here in the naki!

i'll test any kite thats thrust into my hands!!!! send them up/down by courier and see if they have the power to tear fence posts apart and smash helmets/faces....

i'll also tell you if they are good conductors of electricity.

ps mmmhh pl depower foil. i was thinking to myself if pl could make a foil or twin skin that flew like a venom but had the ground handling of a foil that would be one awesome kite. i like the way the venom flys but launching nigel no mates on a feild in high wind can be a heal pain in the arrrse.

Sign up for the PL newsletter... lots of good stuff there. Don't know why I don't get it anymore. I think the PL distro selling on Trademe probably doesn't do much for retail support. Nobody demo's them in Auckland that's for sure. Last I flew one was because Craig was kind enough to shove one in my hands. I think he felt sad seeing my tattered old 8m C-quad.

This time of the year is better than Christmas. All the brands have new stuff. Curious to see what Ozone has to offer too.

PS. Middle ages... don't get me started. Just being able to suit up in heavy armor and go around proving Darwinian theory and redefine political correctness. Oh to own a full size trebuchet! You got me started!

Found this thread on the extreme kite website www.extremekites.com.au/product-watch/ki...e-proto-20080710330/ I am assuming the pics are of the new PL race kite though the source was flexifoil.com.

Looking forward to the coming summer and very keen to give that 5.0m Blurr a go ZenoN even got a new buggy the other week though have to make some extras for it first.

Its a PL comp MkII with the XR+ seat bought it secondhand on trade me its never benn used and picked it up for a song(cheap $400) half a new one. Going to add side padding, foot grips, footstraps, a spray deck and modify the seat with a large back rest as i think this is needed on the pl buggy.

Doesn't look like we're going to get out this weekend the weather is surpose to be crap, but we'll see.

it will be interesting to see how the blurr goes against the Rage and a blade IV to for that matter. It will be also good to compare it with the PL reactor to.

well we went out in 30-40 knots today, rained almost non stop. Army were doing live rounds at the moose so that was a no go, went 35kms back to the creek, perrin thought about the blurr 5.0, but in 30 knots it was a tad much, a 2.9 reactor, 2.2 reactor, 2.2 ngen and 3.5 rage went up

the fiblre glass and cabon buggy did 76 kmph, the xx foulkes did 72, the custom PL bigfoot mkII did 80 and the libre did ??

A 2.2 yak came out and was hard to tame in 40 knots, perrin managed to make it talk. The gusts made it a bit scary, like a permanent squall with all the rain fronts one after the other non stop, the parked cars swaying a bit.

30-40 knots a bit much for me especialy on a small buggy. We only had a cold southernly in chch no good for the beach and i bit gusty for inland flying and hate buggying on muddy grass, so waiting for those easternly sea breezes to come back.

Sounds like you guy in Auckland had a blast. Did anyone get pics or video? If so please share.

30-40 is just when it starts to get exciting! Sadly, we never get that much wind down here...
