ahhhhhh,,,,,

i've found this paddock that around 400meter long and about 2-300wide.
its right by the sea so clean winds.

its mainly flat with little natural kickers and in one end it theres a hill about 30 meters high with a maori pa at the top. again with more natural kickers.

oooh i can't wait to get there and do some roosting. just gota time wind in the right direction with the cows not being in the paddock and i'm all go.

i'ts the ideal location to practive hill riding/jumping.

i did a small session the other week in a smaller paddock next to this one and even on the small slope the increased lift was amaising. i recon my 10m frenzy in 14-15 knots felt more like 20 knots of lift.

eastern end of lake clearwater in a nw is fun in a buggy

smoothish 4wd tracks and a big hill u can buggy up
harbour boosting, sideways buggying, harwood speed gps'ing, sometime kiteskiing, wave/washing machine kiting, gear breaking, driving about chasing the wind....

yay i finally got to ride the paddock.... no cows.....
but it started to rain. grrr.
yay the rain stopped
grrrr.... so did the wind.
ahhhh...

oh well its a heady 5 knots at the base of the hill and a blistering 7 knots at the top.

not enough for any sort of decent traction on the flat. but oldy enough power to haul me up the hill kite looping into the power zone.

at least i got to dragg my arrse up the hill and board down and get used to the change in wind window.

at one point the wind speed shot up to a massive 9.7 knots at the top of the hill.

It gave me enough traction for get some decent speed up on the downhill leg and carve upwind for some quite fun strange little floaty airs.

now i'm hunkering for a 10knot plus day to give the hill real shot.

I really want to ride this hill....sounds absolutly awesome....

Keep it up. Probably having that lighter wind day will be a really big help as you would have got to know the kind of conditions and where the differences lie compared to normal kiting. I really want to see some massive "chasta style" extended hangtime....

yeah i want to see some chasta style air too. i have a long way to go before i'm busting kiteloop landings with massive airtime inbetween.

i'm kinda hoping some guru magically appears from behind a bush like a leprechaun one day when i'm kiting and throws down some freakish manuvours so i can see how its done.

your right tho it was i good chance to see how the kite acted on the slope and the ventury affect of the hill. also quite odd seeing the kite sitting at the zenith but behind me abit.

how much run off do you have at the bottom...cause you should be able to do a decent jump and then just continue to float backwards towards the flat without having to kiteloop to land. just an idea. Im going to get myself out to the hills at scout out some spots when summer comes around to give me some nice warm days with clean winds.

run off is about 50 to 80 meters maybe more depending on wind direction and location on the hill.

i'm contemplating dixie's 14 meter which should give me mass hang time in almost no wind..... but i'll be overpowered on the hill real fast if the wind picks up... hmm.

Hey Joe

I went for a look in bottle lake forest for some mtboarding spots and come accross some nice open spaces with hills near the refuse station?? i think...

ANd it looks resonably smooth wind... wil check it maybe saturday if the easterly comes through... might be good on a north too!

ive got a special padock 4 landboarding 2 ,its the mikey savage memorial at bastion pint above mission bay here in aucks, its fully manicured lawns realy, v/smoth 2 ride and ive neva been told 2 bugger off (yet), its a two sidded affair with good exposure from s/e to n/w winds with the monument in the middle, its gentle rolling hills r so nice 2 silde and pop but u gotta pick ur times cause of the tourists, an anual kite day is held on the other padocks which is abit rough 4 landboarding but fine 4 buggys,
there r no answers only more questions...

horray for hills!

just had another hill session in another paddock which is right by the sea. so clean as wind nice rolling hill. cross/on hill wind direction 14-18knots power up the hill do abit of a floaty air over the top then cooze back down the hill send the manta back just a touch to get of the ground then redirect for a float down the hill.... Nice.

the hill is only small maybe 15 vertical meters max. but its quite cool to learn the hill flying techniques.

sorry no photo's as i'm (as usual) flying nigel no mates.
