The next Landboarding NZ Ltd Waikuku Kite Camp is now being planned for Friday 13th to Sunday 15th April 2007

Low tide will be around 7pm that weekend which should allow for either an early morning or mid-to-late afternoon session each day for kiting. For those that are considering moving to the darkside, there should be plenty of water in the lagoon at high tide for some kitesurfing. As ever there will also be a chance for some more night flying, campfires and general foolishness for those that enjoy that sort of thing...!

The plan is to arrive late Friday Afternoon in time for the evening sunet session, and to have 2 full days for morning and evening sessions (wind allowing).

LBNZ will be bringing some beer and grabbing some of the now famous 'Meat Packs' and hopefully we will have a BBQ available. So you just need to bring your kite gear, bedding and any extra food and drink you require.....

We will be booking 2 cabins with 9 places available and may book another if the interest is there. As usual the costs should be $10 per person per night, ($20 for both nights), and the first 9 people to contact me by email/PM and commit the money will get the spaces.

Alternatively, for those brave enough you can book a tent spot for $9 per night if money is tight.

Everyone is welcome, boarders, buggiers, surfies, watchers and newbies.

Show your support for the local landboarding scene and come along....

Seems like I'm in as well. But not sure how many extras I have to bring with me. It seems like my other half has decided to go to Hanmer for the weekend and so that leaves me with an 11 year old that might end up with us as well.........oh well he can cook tea

It would sucks more if they had asked you to work sunday as well...

More appropriate comments would be that "blows" that way we are forcasting for ourselves good wind at the same time.....

Im not sure of my sitiuation yet. Will take the time off the Mad Butcher in a couple of days and sort the kiteshop out a little sooner to the time....

Any specific requests for demo gear? Ill do my best and im sure Spig will too.

By the way, don't worry if you have never flown a kite before, come along to the Waikuku Kite Camp weekend and grab a free introductory kiting lessons from our regular instructor.

If you are interested in a free intro kiting lesson, post in this thread or send a pM and let us know what time you are coming along.

If you are looking for a kite demo or two, then come along and join the crew for a wicked time. We are looking to have an Ozone Manta, Yakusa, Acess 1 & 2, and a Flexifoil BladeIV and a Rage, plus more available for demo throught the day on Staturday 14th April. (wind allowing).

Free Intro Lessons and demos will be provided courtesy of LANDBOARDING NZ Ltd.

The Waikuku Kite Camp is going ahead as scheduled regardless of the somewhat inclement weather. Staunch or what eh...!!

With temperatures down into single digits, (brrrrrr) and a strong S-SW predicted, there will still be plenty of fun to be had. Landboarding and buggying will now take place down towards the lagoon area where wind direction is not such a problem.

If you arrive in the afternoon at the Waikuku Surf Club make sure you look to the extreme left, down the far end of the beach as that is most likely where we will be based.... Otherwise listen out for the clinking of beer bottles and the smell of BBQ...

Once again the NZ weather forecast was completely wrong, and what threatened to be a very cold and wet weekend, turned into a beatifully sunny and somewhat milder one, but unfortunately a windless too. If only I could control the weather... muhahahahahah...

So thanks to all those that turned up anyway, I was glad to have your support. A big shout out goes to KD, (Craig) for bringing the BBQ, and to Caleb & Kate for the firelighting expertise and beach entertainment. Midnight Frisbee might have to become a regular feature...!!

Thanks everyone....

no wind? weird..

yesterday lunchtime was 30+ from the SW down here, saturday was even windier

some very bumpy kitesurfing, quite large gust jumps....
harbour boosting, sideways buggying, harwood speed gps'ing, sometime kiteskiing, wave/washing machine kiting, gear breaking, driving about chasing the wind....
