Buggying = more speed, easier to cruise plus faster to pick up. Freestyle can be achieved, but it's far more dangerous and expensive (replacing axles, hubs etc....)

Mtb = more freestyle ability (easier to vary things up), harder to cruise over a long distance and nowhere near as fast as buggying. Much harder on the body over long distances

Since, I do both, it's safe to say that a balance between the two is probably a good thing. ie. try boarding and buggying. Personally I much prefer buggying as its easier to just cruise on the beach and you are far less likely to get injured. But in saying that, my best sessions have been cruising with a V8 in 20knot winds and jumping with a V13 in 10-15.

Also the possibilities with buggying are only just being found. For example, nobody has managed to backflip a buggy yet, and thus it remains the ultimate goal for the AEOBB boys to perfect.

I say get a buggy and a board. When you get sick of the buggy, just switch over to the MTB for some jumping. That's what I plan to do.

as a kitesurfer, i bought a kite landboard about half a year a go to use as its a similar riding style to kitesurfing, but im switching over to buggying as it will get much more use out where i live, eg, theres many beaches which are affected heaps by the tide and have 200-500m wide mud flats and is just too soft for a board to ride on and would easily be able to to ridden with a buggy, i also wana go for more speed
