I´m coming to New Zealand at the beginning of December and I want to go Kiteboarding in Auckland at this time. At the end of December I want to go kiteboarding in Napier and mid January I want to go kiteboarding in Wellington. Now I´m wondering what kind of wetsuit I need. I just bought one 5/3, but I think it could be to warm? Is a shorty to cold?

I find the best thing kiting over summer in nz is a short leg / long sleeve. At the moment I'm in a 2/3 long suit, and i'll probably be wearing that up till xmas and in any colder southerly winds. Auckland and wellington the temperatures and weather can be pretty variable. Napier should be nice n warm n sunny.

If you get a shorty and say a hotskin 1-2mm top you should be pretty good.

P.S. the sun is harsh here...

Shorty might not be enough for Windy Wellington, especially if it's a 30 knot southerly.
