Hello hello,

I'm finishing my job on 1st Sept and then have one month to enjoy NZ, packing in a much kitesurfing as possible. And then Fiji. I am a lucky bugger.

I've had a search of the forum and there are bits and pieces about good locations (chch/nelson sounds good). Is there a thread or website that lists all the best locations around NZ? Would that be too easy?

Alternatively will just buy a good pair of gloves so my thumb doesn't get too cold whilst hitching around, and find out for myself where is good.

Also am dying to try kitesnowboarding - anyone know somewhere deserted and snowy enough to do that?

Thank you very muchly!

For snow kiting I would recommend snowpark near Wanaka... however would want to head their first if your only coming on 1 sept (they tend to close in sept)

One of the more southern crew would have been thier before I am sure

Roaring forties winds get very consistant over NZ in the last 4 months of the year. It's the best time of year to kite in Auckland too. In a normal year Muriwai which is a west coast beach will be pumping from Sep to Dec. Northern NZ usually cranks year round but our spring time is when it really happens and Sep is the start of spring so the chances of scoring some decent wind will be high. You've picked a good time to come.
eastern beach hates my guts because i did a big crap in my wetsuit whilst out there kiting 6 years ago. That's why i'm the most unpopular kiter in NZ. Beast from da east reprazent mutha f#$$%@ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
