Howdy,

I am pretty keen on starting kiteboarding and wanted to know peoples recommendations on gear/instructors/places to try.

Basicly I am full time employed and will be able to get out maybe once a week and again once on weekends.

Where to begin is my question...

After a bit of googling and a chat to a couple of stores I am looking at buying a Venom pack from anabatic which includes free lessons (something I suspect I am going to need). Does anyone have any input into this, is the Venom a good startup package?

Regards

summer is the time to get into this game... Lessons are definately the way to go - maybee second hand gear is easier on the wallet though, as a first kite inevitably takes a bit of a hamering...

Good Luck!
Hippies are always talking about saving the world but all they do is smoke pot and go kiteboarding.

I second that. Now is the time to get into it then you'll have summer and autumn of perfect learner winds (steady 10-15 knots) and by the end of that you should be all set for the kickass winter and spring westerlies... then you'll be addicted.

But stay away from the busy beaches as there is a lot of negative attitude towards kiters from the rich establishments on the eastern seaboard at the mo and bans aren't too far away.
eastern beach hates my guts because i did a big crap in my wetsuit whilst out there kiting 6 years ago. That's why i'm the most unpopular kiter in NZ. Beast from da east reprazent mutha f#$$%@ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lessons are a must! Not only is it better for you (Cos you learn quicker) it makes it safer for other beach users to.

The Venoms are great kites and can take a beating which in the long run won't hurt your wallet as much as giving a new or second heand tube a hiding (Torn leading edges, ripped sails, popped bladders, busted pumps etc). But if you want to look cool get a tube
