Anyone ever go after work? I've been a couple of times and it's been going off big time, but no one else there whatsoever. (And apparently no wind anywhere else, according to the graphs)

It's frustrating to not go out somewhere (because you're on your own in a sketchy spot) but the wind is looking epic. :?

Am I missing something about this spot or does simply no one go after work? :?:
(5pm -ish)

An advanced spot for advanced kiters.. or anyone else up for the Darwin award.

I guess you could call Kaitarakihi Raglan's ugly twin sister. I've kited Huia before and i was on a 12m X2 in a sea breeze that was hittin 20 knots. i've never kited Kaitarakihi and it will be a while before i try kiting there. However the Manukau Heads spots rock for wind especially during summer thermals. I'm very very keen on heading out there again.. so next time you are up for it Trant... or anyone else for that matter gimme a PM or txt me on my cellphone.
eastern beach hates my guts because i did a big crap in my wetsuit whilst out there kiting 6 years ago. That's why i'm the most unpopular kiter in NZ. Beast from da east reprazent mutha f#$$%@ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ooops i forgot to say that i finish work at midday... what's the traffic like at 5pm for getting to Huia (Titirangi)?

Blackfeathershadowofrage I know you'll be keen livin on da west side and i'm sure we could persuade others like 4T to head on down to the windy Manukau heads.

Cool.
What direction and tide does Huia work in? Seemed a little protected from most wind directions to me when I looked at it. Sorry, I'm new to Auckland and still exploring the spots.

The southerly gets straight in there. The SW thermal out thata way usually has quite a bit of south in it. For low tide Fosters Bay and that inlet next to Cornwallis would work in the same directions as Kaitarakihi.

Huia is a high tide spot.

Hay Thrasher , Yea I am keen as to get back out to Huia that place is mad . I love sliding that old boat on the inside , hope the owner is never watching not so keen on rideing around the corner at Kaitarakihi though the idea of being sucked out the heads does'nt apeal to me . Maybe we can get skyrider up from rags to try it , we can just sit and wait for him to return emergency rescue style . If he doesnt come back we wont go out ! I have watched some wind surfers riding at Kaitarakihi and even though it looked consistent they were stop go the whole time ok if your floating on a big board but it would be brown trousers time if you were kiting there !
