According to my precise calculations: 27,654.85!

Not many.

CHCH apparantly has the biggest scene in NZ.

AK has a large number but as the place is so spread out you'll think there are sod all.

Dunedin and Wellington scenes are pretty small?? I'm sure Doofus can comment more on this.

dunedin 10 ish, wanaka is more, something like 20 to 30, met one from Timaru last weekend.

Lee,how many use Orewa on a regular basis?

On a good day there are between 15-30 kites out, but over the period of the day kiters arrive and kiters leave.
So there are heaps getting on the water.
But there are also about 10 other beachers offering kiters good conditions in the same wind, so the load is spread far and wide now.
Once we get swimming and walking banned on Orewa things will be better. We will develop orewa with permenant sliders and kickers + a cable tow for the light wind days.
Free beer and hot showers.
Its only a matter of time.



Of course still being at the planning stages we still have a few things to work out.
Things like establishing the pecking order at the beach.
Ok thats an easy one...Its obvious that all top riders should wear pink helmets so we know who is actually a top rider, thus eliminating any confusion, and good photos are easier to take as a result.

I like that idea Lee. I fully agree with banning swimmers from KITEbeach :twisted: .

The female kiting population is about 50... and increasing steadily!
