gday all. Im wanting to gather as much advice from people in the know about this awesome sport!!!

I dont have any experiance AT ALL

At the moment i am playing with a Naish 1.3 toy kite.

Ive been looking on Trademe for some 2nd hand gear but im unsure what i need (or how much to spend). So far i believe a 14-16m kite is best for me. Not sure about boards either. I weight 90kg (big boned...honest)

I hear 5 line rigs are the shit for beginers too.

Please help a lost cause.

Coming from a relative newbie, get lessons before buying anything. Two reasons, first it will give you the skills you need before going and using your own kite, and secondly I found the instructor a great source of advice on what to look for in a kite (size, quality, type) based on how they saw me handle things during the lessons.

Based on the info I got from the instructor I ended up buying 2 kites off trademe that suited me perfectly (I'm 92kg and got an 11m and a 14m), and avoided buying one that was stuffed.

I teach kiting and other tuned in forms of enlightenment to a select few living around AK. I also have a good range of second hand kites etc. available to people keen to get cranking in the most enjoyable way !!
