This is where the European Championship is going to be held in October
http://kite-surf.tv/denmark.php
I flew over this park on the way to Skagen and so far it looks good!!!
I hope to have a go some time next week when I spend 3days
in Copenhagen.

This has wind from any direction and you have the option of either
absolutely flat water or some sea swell, damn that place looks good.

This is the map of the upper part of Denmark
http://www.kms.dk/landetrundt/danmarkskort/d1318.html

I'm in Skagen at the moment and have the best of the east or
west coast within a 2-5mins drive. Now the greatest thing about
Denmark is that it is flat no mountains etc, the heighest hill around
here is a dune about 15m.

Now I only brought my 12m due to weight issues and
the fact that I want to do a little sightseeing as well.

Arrived here on Thursday and thankfully I'm not suffering from jetlag
so managed to get out and about on Friday morning on a bicycle
sightseeing. Then hit the white sandy beach in the afternoon
sharing it with a lone windsurfer, who stopped to watch what I was upto.

Decided to try out the east coast with a cross off shore, keeping my
hosts happy, being protected from the wind by the dune. Slightly gusty
right on shore but not like anything you would get in Auckland.

The water is about 20 degrees and clear, so just in my board shorts
and rashie. The sea on this side is generally smooth with nice gental
rolling swell and 5m off the shore the wind settles down.
Water is about 1m deep for about 600m out and clean, the
whole clean green image of NZ might be lost after this trip.
The west coast is surf city so the options seem endless.

No sharks here the only thing to watch out for is the large red
jelly fish, these are the only man eaters around. If you worried about
crowds on the water or beach don't worry seems like most people
here haven't ever seen a kitesurfer before up here.

Anyway the wind is still blowing swung round to the east so now
I have a nice cross on shore, so got to go!!!!!!!

I've been here now just over a week and the wind has't let up!!!
A 12m and one board, 147 Drake to compensate for lighter days but
I'm now regretting not having brought my 115 stubbie.

The longest drive I've had to the best wind spot
was just over 2hours from Skagen. Oh man you get the option of
either flat water on a fiord or the amazing surf spot of Klitmller.

This is the best picture of Klitmller point break:

For those that love the surf and wave riding try and imagine a great day
at Muriwai with the ability to launch from side of the swell, out the back!
That's Klitmller!!!!

Within a ten minute drive, you can have swell like that at Muriwai or
a gental swell on a calm day at Orewa, with 10 launch spots right on the
beach.

Heading back home we went up to Lkken. Here is white sandy beach that
isn't tidal and people drive along the beach or rent little beach huts for the
day. So out with the kite and I did a 15km down wind run with the cars
in tow, since we where going that way to get off the beach to head home.

So far I'm in love with Denmark and would recommend it to anyone
wanting to get to the Northern Hemispher for kitesurfing. Beautiful
brown women, lots of kite locations however speaking to the locals
all they want is surf so there is heaps of flat water locations for yourself.

Anyway I'm off for breakfast, hope you guys and gals have wind that side.

Yah Klitmller is epic but bloody dangerous if you screw up out there you get wasted! And there is no big beach like Muriwai at low tide.
20metre beach a lot of big rocks an the next thing that comes are the 10 metre high sand dunes.

But still one of the best spots in norther europ!
have fun over there!!

cheers
Uli

I'm in Europe at the moment and will be in Copenhagen in about 10days. Drop me an email if you want to meet up for a session and a beer. Always good to ride with a fellow kiwi.

Uli is right Klitmller is not for beginners the current runs at something
insane like 6-8knots north. The locals call it the express to Hanstholm
and although the beach has a tight'ish launch its still better than
Shoal Bay but with a few options.

Even though, it is a wicked spot!

Hi Matt, sorry I'm not going to be here when you arrive heading to
Norway tomorrow morning for some sight seeing for afew days.
I'll be back in Copenhagen for two days before flying out on Sunday.
I hope to give the new beach a go, looks fantastic from the air I only
hope there isn't too many jelly fish. I heard Copenhagen had a swimming
warning out a while ago. Hopefully the new beach area will keep
the jellies out.

Will let you know how the trip goes, on my way out to catch a plane to
Copenhagen for the flight to Norway. It's the first morning I haven't seen
the sun in the morning, Skagen must be sad about me leaving. I'll be back
for sure!!!!!!!
