Ya mean chicken legs?

Prob'ly morphed into tropic-bird-legs by now after 4 days of S.E. trades and 6-9 ft swells... you're unlikely to get a cluck out of him till he gets back.

Hey hip, it's not a very expensive trip, just sell some of those kites you get given from the salvation armie.

you did not supply any phone numbers in your hasty response.... Good idea - sell all my kites get to the warm water and swim with the fishes with no rag to fly... hmmmm ...what kite sizes do you reckon are required in the tropical zones, at a bare minimum?

Hippies were born to swim with fishes, hug trees, march against vivisection etc, etc...

The only rag you need hippy is a loincloth to protect your nether region as you transcendentally mindsurf above the coconuts, palms poised, prehensile thumbs & fingers in celestial circles, legs curled like lotus blossom.

You the tropic child, born on a yacht and suckled on porpoise milk, ask me what kite sizes may be of appropriate meterage to take into the pacific?

I am hedging my bets & taking the full quiver + surfboard + goggles & flippers to swim with the fishes.

i have finally made it to internet access, on my way to pick sean up from the airport. this place rules. i've been hanging on the south coast of upolo and have kited four days out of five so far, with the first two classic trades on 17m and 13m - flat lagoon with 18-20 ft walls unloading on the reef.

the partying has been as sensational, every night a bottle of hard liquor consumed along with local herbs and vailima. my only complaint is the number of kiwis around, 50 have been arriving over the last few days, mostly surfers from dunedin and queenstown for a wedding tomorrow night which promises to facilitate new levels of debauchery.

anyway, it's too hot and i'm having too much fun to communicate with you losers. talofa and malo.

the dream tour continues. however, unfortunately there's been no wind for a few days and the swell is steadily dropping so sean has yet to experience the supreme samoan conditions. we've left him at a tiny village to chill out for a few days while a kraut and i are heading to savaii for a recce mission and a possible flight to check the seppo desolation of pago pago: american samoa.

have fun kids - see you in a week or so, if i can drag my ass to the airport.

Hopefully you get some vento soon, as Sky rider was well stoked before heading off to meet up with you lucky bastards... I have broken my winter drought for work (which is just as well!) Unfortunately any chance i have of a tropical winter escape this year is fast fading into a past delusional episode!

Let us know of any severe reef batterings which will inevitably result from the 2 of you competing for waves... hahaaaaaa

Talofa!![/i]

no real reef carnage yet, but the trades are back and this arvo is looking likely. plenty of broken hearts and lolo induced adventures to report if i ever make it off this rock. i did a whirlwind tour of savaii and that place has the sickest spots but have come back to keep sean company in his bolthole.

kapai and cu soon!

yo dude, is there any kiting around mulifanua ( where aggies beach resot is) ?

bootie,

ps did u scope out the pyrimid on the big island ?

Re: Kia Orana tropical one 6 years, 9 months ago #5872

hey hey

i don't know about aggie's resort for kiting - it doesn't look like the SE trades get in there - that's probably why they've built it there. when i've been there there's been a few hobie cats flapping around in 2 knots offshore. i guess NE would work and they do get it occasionally.

right now it's pissing down in apia - just like home, and i'm trying to wangle another three days for a flight to pago pago. sean hasn't moved from this piss-ant little viallge where we dropped him off a week ago. he couldn't even bring himself to bus into town with me today.

we tried to kite where he was yesterday and waited for the tide so we could attack the waves, but right when we were pumped up the wind dropped and it started pissing. then we had dramas with the locals, some of whom have been getting wound up about us kiting on their lagoon, which is a 'no-take' marine reserve. it seems it is ok for them to paddle wakas through it and poach fish at night, and throw their garbage into it - but no good for the paalangi kiters. the family we were staying with have some serious muscle in the village though and when i left there was much talk about throwing rocks and cracking the heads of the local fun-police.

all a bit of humour for sean to deal with.

anyway see you mongrels soon, one way or the other. i haven't read a single other thread but look forward to catching up with nz's own politics.

talofa

i'm back in the hood, up the glass tower in the full air-con fluoro glare. samoa was a blast and many killer spots scouted including some on american samoa. they all need the trades though, something that was severely lacking due to the big high over nz for the middle of our trip.

jarrod - sorry i missed you guys, enjoy!
