This is to announce my cunning plan to run the first ever KITEFORUM.co.nz FANCY DRESS COMP in this country, or possibly the planet. I can't believe this hasn't been done before but there you go.

My theory is; it would be fun to see everybody's personal expression of character on the water, we would get some hilarious photos and, most importantly it could be a perfect opportunity for the outlaw Osama Been-Kiting to reveal himself.

The way is I see it working is: all interested parties start planning outfits ready to deploy on Saturday the 2nd of April. Before that day, my team of meteorologists and I will study the charts to determine the Auckland location, with the final call made on this forum on April Fools Day (Friday 1). The next day (Saturday or in case of shite forecasting Sunday) the event will kick off at midday at the agreed location with a free BBQ and your first drink free provided by KITEFORUM.co.nz. Participants should wear their outfits right from the beginning and attempt to stay in character throughout the day for the benefit of the secret judges. Actual riding ability is irrelevant and won't be judged, only the amount of fun had or generated by the individual. We will have an official photographer to document the event.

There will be several categories of event winners to be announced in due course, plus massive prizes, food and drink for all. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please BYO BBQ food and alcohol.

If you would like to donate a prize to this outstanding event please contact me in person. Don't worry about a prize for the true Osama as I already have a one-way ticket to Aussie for him.

Everyone else, get ready for the biggest, baddest kiting party ever and start stitching your costumes!

My brother Shaan I feel you have at last found your true calling an orgnaiser of manly men dressing up. I have no doubt that this event will be a huge success for I have always been of the opinion that all kiteboarders greatest joy is the tight harnessing around their bally region rather than the up thrusting of the wind.
The mind can only boggle at the types of fancy dress will Perrin and Kent come as two small hobbits, will Murrel come as Gonzo off the Muppets, Will Gavin come as a gruppy bugger??? will Jonnie be there as Bob Marley.. most importantly will brother Lee come as a screaming schoolgirl (many of us have seen him tarted up in this way before but it is his BEST look)
I must say my brother that if you yourself do not come a bantam, a pullet, a small fowl or a poorly pullet your title of chicken legs may be lost forever.

I will be there of course but I will come as myself I would like to offer a prize as a night alone with the lovely Hazel so others could appreciate what a good hump is really like.

kent: it may well be on sunday anyway due to weather but if not, you guys can still make an appearance after 3pm or whenever . judging will be based on quality not quantity and i'm sure you're only interested in the free sausages anyway.

HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY! things are looking good for tomorrow's fancy dress spectacular. we have prizes from Slingshot, Kiteworks and DVNT kiteboards and the action will be kicking off from 1.00pm (high tide) at Shakespear Park, Whangaparaoa, where a light SSW is expected. remember to bring your fancy dress to be in to win and into the free food and booze.
