Went to Tahiti last year for my honeymoon, managed to get a couple of days kiting in also - yes we're still married!!

Moorea is pretty good and there is a little pension called 'Les Tipaniers' which is right on the spot I went to. (www.tahiti.com/english-version/travel-de...les%20tipaniers.html)
Not sure of the winds now however when i was there I had a 15m G2 which covered the ranges of 12m and 16m of those around me.
Talk to Ian C also, here's been recently and I think he knows of spots on Tahiti itself to goto. If you're staying in a hotel then try to get a food and accomodation package - this is the cheapest way to go although you'll end up always eating at the same restaurant and don't get to explore the food elsewhere. In Papeete there are the caravans and these are pretty cheap. It is quite expensive, however it is fun.
