Us Eastsiders are contemplating a Eastern Beach to Pine Harbour crossing. hoping to get most of the crew involved.

Or from Taka to the island (not sure of the name) Rangitoto .. some thing like that.

Today would have been perfect for a down winder.
My misses said she would follow us incase we pull off along the way for what ever reason. Has any one done this down winder before? I put a message on the forum last summer however no one responded.

the eastern beach to pine harbour crossing doesn't even need a support boat... of course it'd be much better with one but compared with the dangerous northern beaches the area round here is extremely safe. Actually today is ideal wind conditions for it... northerlies work best for this trip... Pity the tide isn't quite right... incoming tide is best. Are you gonna do a down winder today madness? a crossing to rangitoto would be freakin dodgy if the gear or the wind crapped out. Another idea for a dodgy crossing would be from Stonefields to Clarks beach... or even worse Whatipu to Kariotahi.

I am sure there are some awesome down winder routes in Auckland.
The Rangitoto route would be good in a Northerly or NNE... today had to much E. The down winder from Milford to Cheltenham would have been the bomb.

You could go all the way to Mission Bay.. !!

..... or we could all head over to Capetown and do a downwinder from kitebeach to Langebaan. Or have you allready done that one madness?

Yeah i reckon the Milford to Mission Bay would be pretty mint but you wouldn't want those container ships getting too close..... they mite block the wind. However if ya timed it right you could get some huge airtime launching off the wake that those things produce.

Anyone know if the Transtasman crossing by kite has started yet?
