Notice of event:
The 2011 New Zealand Kiteboarding Nationals in association with Wind Addiction Kite Club is to be held in Tauranga from the 20th to 24th of October. Labour Weekend.
Venue:
Fergusson Park the BOP premier kiteboarding location and home to clubs HQ. The recently opened Otumoetai Sports and Recreational Club offers excellent facilities. Competitors can enjoy shelter from the elements, changing rooms, hot showers and a licensed bar.
Format :
Competitors will compete in a single elimination event (double if conditions allow)to be judged in accordance with PKRA 2011 freestyle rules. Link available below. Entry categories to include Mens Open, Women's Open, Youth(U18), Masters(30+) and Legends(40+).
Best Trick and Biggest Air during heats will also be judged. A Rail / Slider, Big Air and Board off comp will also take place if time and conditions allow.
Information :
Fergusson Park is a predominantly west facing beach which is suitable for kiting in winds from south west around to east south east making it an ideal inner harbour location. The area is kiteable on all tides low or high. Our mobile judging platform will allow us to take full advantage of available wind directions and tide conditions.
October is statistically the best time of year for wind in the Bay of Plenty. Westerly quarter winds are predominant and at this time of year and regularly blow well in excess of the forecast. Combine this with warmer air and water temps, daylight saving being well underway and... its a long Weekend with Labour day falling on the 24th. With all this in considered we we are off to a great start.
Our aim is to make this a well organized fun event for competitors and spectators alike and in doing so raise awareness of the sport and encourage growth while raising the profile of all our sponsors.

The competition is open to all New Zealanders and New Zealand Residents. Pre registration is required with payment of the entry fee of $120.00 by no later than the 6th of October(2 weeks prior) only.
