Looks like the Ben Wilson Surf crew tried to ride some pretty extreme slabs on their dirty west tour in Western Australia. Anyone know of some slabs like this around NZ?

For me it has to be New Plymouth and while the Plummet said it was a low wave day, the size and cleanness of the waves were awesome. When I fucked up and missed the timing, the power of the wave turned my leg inside out and nearly ripped it from my torso. The waves in New Plymouth are the cleanest I’ve found in NZ.
Hmm, to kitesurf or to landboard? That is the question for a kite addicted junkie.

yep head to the naki bro. That wave in the vid looks like a dumpy peice of poo.

Yourl get double overhead at east end several times a month. But the location that is hardest core is Tai road/kina road. its massive on a small day there. rocks and cliffs down wind with easily head height waves. the deepest biggest section of the break on 25+ knot day is at least double head height and heavy as a small house. i scares the hell out of me.

I'm too chicken to get right in the pocket of those monsters. but some of the locals rip it up like its a piece of cake. buggers are 50+ too those old gnarly dudes definatly show the younguns how to do it.

Back beach also holds a real heavy dumpy wave. you have to give it respect or it will eat you up. one guy had all 4 lines snapped after he crashed his kite in the surf on a day i was their. nasty.

lyall bay would get pretty hard core in the middle of winter i'd guess?

Yep been a while since I've been to the Naki. Have kited Kina Rd a few times now but nothing too huge - would love to get it when it's on...have surfed east end, but never kited it. I'll have to get up that way soon. Lyall does has it's day in the large southerly winter swells, but nothing like the down the line kiting you'd get in the naki.
