Hello,
Me and the misses are visiting NZ for 3 1/2 weeks beginning mid February.
We'll be staying at the beach in Whangamata and would like to take lessons.
Any suggestions on where lessons are available in the nearby area?

Hey Bro, no idea about Whangamata but i would suggest contacting this dewd from the Auckland kite centre, its' worth travelling for instruction from Dean Joyce because he is one of the best instructors out there and such a nice person.

don't know anything about them. just seen them advertised in the kite mags before.

i think the closest place could Tauranga, about hr 1.5 south. if your here for 3 week then you you may end up driving there anyway.

Yes DB Auckland does offer more than Tauranga:

More crowds

More oyster shell encrusted beaches

More gusty wind

More narrow beaches

More over hanging trees

More stone walls

More traffic and parking problems

James your best bet is to call Brad or Glen at Assault, these guys have been teaching kiting for longer than just about everyone and are just down the road from where you are staying. They have great teaching locations around Tauranga and Mt Manganui, I'm sure they will have you up and riding safe and quickly.
