Good day fellow kiters

Myself and my wife are coming to ZN in Jan for 1 month. We will be staying with fam around the bay of plenty.

I have been kite surfing for about 8 months and am coming along quite nicely, but now am faced with a problem.

Im not sure if I should bring my gear with to NZ. I have a 12m North Vegas and a 9 and 7m Slingshot Fuel kits. No wetsuite.

What are the conditions like over there, will I need a full wetsuite, what wind should i pack for?

Any help and some google earth links on where the common kiting spots are would be great!

Bring your 12m and 9m they will probably see you right this time of year. i'd suggest you pack your wet suit as its still relatively cold when the wind is howling.

The usual wind this time of year is up to 25 knots but we can have storms come though with more wind. in the last month i have flown my 11m most of the time and my 8m once.

I haven't doen any kiting in the bay so i can't recomend beaches there. But its your keen to travel the north island i say put these spots on your list

Taranaki, epic waves generally cross on wind
Ragalan, the magic carpet
Auckland, Beaches on every single wind angle possible.
Muriwai and the moose land, flat water lagoon, waves, dunes that look like the moon.
Foxton, flat water estury, waves usually very windy
90 mile beach - 88km down winder!!

Sounds good. I will be based in the bay of plenty, with some day trips here and there, where should i look for Jan/Feb wind, East for South of the North Island?

Hi Guys

So I have made it to NZ! Cant wait to get out onto the water, just hoping for some wind where im at.

Only issue is that I had to leave my Kiteboard at home, it was to heavy with all of the other goodies we brought with

Does anyone know where i can pickup a directional kite board around the bay of plenty? Looking for something decent that i can take home with me, but that wont cost me the rest of my holiday.

Any help would be great, kiting is not much fun without a board.
