G'day kiwi kiters
I'm back in NZ from the States and will be between Auckland and Whangarei the next 3 months (until beginning of March).
Looking for local advice on good spots for different conditions and also people to kite with.
I'm "advanced beginner" level (had about 15-20 sessions on the water in Venezuela last couple of years).
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Pete,

There are a few kiters in Whangarei, but most ride either at Ruakaka or Parua Bay - only one option for riding in the city and it is not user friendly.

Nice thing with out here is it doesn't which way the wind blows we have a nice wide open beach to ride at.

For no wind days we have also installed this fun piece if kit:



No reason not to ride everyday now.

for an epic 88km down winder check out 90 mile beach in sw.

also make sure you get your arse to the moose land. south head of the kaipara harbour for some waves and lagoon action.

decay's spot in ruakaka is sweet and theres dones of little beaches on the east coast up north.

If you fancy some west coast waves pm me for a session at Muriwai. If you want flat water give Point Chev a try, you'll meet plenty of kiters down there as well. Orewa is a good spot for an easterly.
