hey mike ,yeah it a good idea to buy s/hand when ur strating out but as far as kites go 4gods sake buy newish gear ok, nothig pre 2007,theres some good deals out there and u can expect to pay $500>$1000 complete with bar lines pump and bag. the board should be a twin tip or bidirectional around 140x40complete with pads footstraps and fins, a cheepie will do around $200>$400 cause u gona weack that anyway, i use a waist harness but seat harness give more support to the back. then get accouple of lessons i beleive therse afew people teaching down there atm.

lastly good luck and may the forse b with Listing #: 339710213

johnie speaks the truth. buy as new as you can afford.

you need to decide if you want a 1,2 or 3 kite quiver. most kitesurfers will have a 2 or 3 kite quiver.

heres a rough guide.

1 kite = 10m

2 kite = 8,12m

3 kite = 7, 10, 13m

pricing

2007 and older less than $600 don't touch with a barge pole
2008, around $600 or less kite with bar and lines
2009 between $600 - $1000
2010 $900+

Note that people can sell kites without the bar and lines. make sure you get one with them. when you aim to buy your next kite then if its the same brand you may not need a second bar and lines.
