Here's the official word on the RECON saftey and relaunch system....

The system was not designed by Cabrinha, they bought the rights from the European inventors, and after a year to recover development costs Cabrinha plans to make the invention available to other manufacturers. As Pete Cabrinha says, the sport and everyone involved in it will benefit from making kitesurfing safer and easier.

The 3 main benefits of the RECON system are :

1. The rider can immediately dump all the power from the kite without letting go of the bar or unhooking. The kite comes straight down and does not spin or twist the lines.
2. As there is no conventional leash the rider can spin the bar to remove twists caused by rotating tricks.
3. The relaunch system, which is also under the pending patent, allows the rider to relaunch the kite quickly and easily without swimming towards the kite, even in light winds. This saves hard earned windward ground and the chance of tangles. As Cabrinha says, now you can go harder without it being a hassle when you drop your kite.
