It's looking good for the West coast over Easter - Medium to strong W - SW's all the way through to Monday, as forecast by buoyweather and MetVUW (the Metservice is complete arse in my opinion, vastly overestimating wind strength). Will probably end up kiting Raglan, with a possible cheeky look at Aotea where guru Gav and others will be hanging. Evenings will be spent sifting around Hamilton no-doubt.

I note the Tauranga / Mt Maunganui crew are also making regular pilgrimages to Raggers - the new favourite home of upper North Island kiting? Enjoy the weekend.

Hey Brad and Ian.

Twas watching the video I took of you to bambinos while at shakes S on sat. Looks good.. Awesome day for it.
My ankle is still strapped up after landing on the beach.
I am hoping another tube of Voltaren and a tug of home grown, will sort me out for the long weekend.

I have booked a batch up at Manguwhai Heads for the Easter Weekend.. !!
Since it is on the East coast I am not sure I will be able to Kite Surf in this direction??I will have a boat while I am there.

Any ideas ??

Any one else heading out that way??

you can still get good flat water riding at mangawhai in SW or W off the main beach at times.

happy easter to all kiteboarding friends! i hope everyone gets some classic riding and spends quality time with family and mates.

i look forward to reading about your easter adventures. i'll be building a retaining wall and hopefully sneaking out for the odd squirt around here.

be safe!

Twas an outstanding easter break. Raglan, then Aotea, then Muriwai yesterday. Generally rode the 7 and 10 metre kites due to the howling wind - used the 14m on a downwinder with the incoming tide at Raglan, but she was a bit of a handful on the upwind return when the tide had turned.
I'd have to say in terms of pure riding spots, Aotea is the best I've been to, although Raglan has the advantage of easier accessibilty and a natural amphitheatre for those of us (all of us?) that love an admiring audience. Am not so sure about Port Waikato river mouth yet, the speed of the current gets a bit ballistic, although I hear tell from the gurus that there are some nice spots in the mouth that I've yet to get to.

Twas a funny weekend for me

I was well impressed with the look of Manguwhai Heads and shall make the quick 1h30 min trip up when the next E bestows upon us. HOWEVER.. the SW was a right shocker. 0-15 knot gusts.
I tried to surf in the channel just behind the main sand dune. Not a good idea. This has to be the gustiest spot I have ever surfed.
