Hey everyone, thought I'd try and reach out and see how kiting is back home these days. I'm from the coromandel, but have been in the US for years now, living on Maui. Probably moving back home at the end of this year'ish, so am interested to see what size kites and stuff everyone is using and where the good spots are! I hear there's some pretty fun spots around Auckland...anyone playing around off the Coromandel at all?
Maybe we'll see you out there come december.

i'm flying 11m and 8m. but could have one of those massive 17m zephurs for silly light winds.

yep im, 10m (grunty 10) and 8m, and my brother has an 11m and a 7m, works pretty good, although i would like a 12 for those summer seabreeze 11-14 knot days.

I agree New Zealand has some great kiteboarding locations, if you are up the coromandel then its just as easy to travel down to Tauranga as it is to Auckland and we are covered by all wind directions and only have to travel 10min to each different place for wind.
Check out www.windandsea.co.nz as we teach in Tauranga, Waihi, Coromandel, Whakatane/Ohope and more (anywere in NZ realy as we are a mobile kiteboarding school) so we know of some sweet kiteboarding spots.
Kite size for NZ depends on your weight 9m, 10.5m, 12m, and a 13.5m is the most sizes that are used but as i said depends on your weight.
