Just wanted to leave a message to say hi to all the other kiters out there. Have been kitesurfing in Auckland since the start of the year, thoroughly loving it and it's been good having a yarn to other kiters at the beach.

Gutted that the suns going down super early now. Afterwork sessions were the business.
And the weekend isn't looking that flash. When do you guys manage to get out?

Do many of you have surf style directional boards? Anyone just use an old surfboard?

Is winter generally windy in Auckland?

Yes, those after work sessions were fun - sad that its only weekend kiting now
Tomorrow afternoon looks great (18 knots), and maybe Saturday night/Sunday morning, looks like a SW hovering around 12 knots.
In my experience, the winter cranks the wind up a level, I was nuking it a few times on my 7m last winter.
Throw on that 4/3 wetsuit and get ready for some winter wind

lot of the blokes down in the naki on directionals. i spose we have the waves!

I finish at bout 1pm mostly so the afterwork sessions for me never finish. But Winter kicks ass... heaps of wind.... the ozone will certainly be getting some use. PH will be turning it on... as will flat island... well it better be haha.

dont let daylight savings stop you, winter rocks. yea its cold, but no one goes out and its always windy. i was on my 9m most of the time last winter, soooo many 25-30knot days!!!!!
im excited winter is coming, good bye crowds and hello strong winds! the trick is to start work early and finish early!!

I'm out East too Mark so a session would be awesome.

Think I'm going to talk to the boss and see if I can get off work early a few days a month, nice tip Mike.

yea i'm keen.... looks like another kickass NE is on da cards in da next few days. Love those crowdfree days and you can rip up da beach spots like Eastern, North Shore etc without getting kiting banned from there haha.
