Maybe I am late but this is the first time I have seen the new jet surf boards.
(Other than the ones developed in 1965).

as far as i know, kim henderson of tauranga is still the man with the rights to bring these into nz. kim has been around the kiting industry since year dot and imported kiteski kites, windtools etc, plus a raft of other extreme action toys through his company: kiwi in motion. he still manufactures mountain boards and has set up the gravity hill terrain park in rotorua.

three years ago he was showing me video of working prototypes of the jetski boards and they certainly kicked ass. like any of those things it looked like it would be funky to have a go on for a couple of hours but would you want to own one? (even if you had a spare $25,000 approx. from memory).

you could buy two complete kite quivers for that i reckon.

A mere NZ$9000 give or take a buck.
I'd still go for the kite quiver thou.But if anyone's looking at buying one,I'd be keen for a wee play.

oh yeah, that's right - 25K was for 1/2 a dozen of them and a free miami vice scarab ocean going cigarette boat with a case of bourbon thrown in and any three of FHM's top 100 babes in the world.

i caught up (via cellular technology) with big kim today as it happens, and it was good to hear from the man, who has always been (in my secret book) one of the nice guys of kiteboarding in this neck of the woods.

we spoke of good memories, current indulgences, mountainboarding, kiting, how much actual kiting we get to do these days, and his imminent plans to sell the terrain park and head back to the middle east for a stint in the family fluid connectors business.

there's great kiting in dubai, and that's where he's headed. apparently the dubai petrodollar zillionaires are building a resort out of the ocean called 'the world', with each man-made island built in the shape of a country and having a theme resort.

in this place you could kite right around the world in half an hour, and score sessions in maui, cabarete and tarifa every afternoon for the price of 10mls of sunscreen per day.
