TOPIC: Shoal Bay yachts... grrr

Shoal Bay yachts... grrr 8 years, 2 months ago #2225

Does any one have any great ideas to get rid of those yachts that are parked at Shoal Bay??.

There seems to be a few more added there over the past few days.
It is now getting VERY Dodgy kiting over by the Sand Bar.

Not only is it getting dangerous, but kitting in the sand bar now sucks.
There were 4 kite surfers learning there over the weekend.
With the winter squalls on there way.. It may be a good idea to try and move them.
I know of one person rapping there lines around one of the yacht last week.

Were is the Kite Police when you need them.!! AY

Did you consider that the yachts were there first!!! you might think about kiting somewhere where there is no hard obstacle 10m downwind.... and mention to the learners what a dumb idea it is too! might be a few less kiters being carted of in ambulances..... leave the sandbar to someone who can really use it! like a fast windsurfer.....

Dont tell me you own one of those crapy logs that are moored along the sand bank.

You may want to sell your log and windsurf and buy a kite.
Windsurfing is well out dated. Fast windsurfer??? Thats all you can do is go fast. There is nothing else to the sport. I am going to bed.

I wouldn't have thought that at Taka the other day in a 30 to 35 knot n/e.... 70 outdated windsurfers ripping!!..... and only 2 kites out.... you must have had your head in the sand somewhere!....... enjoy the water any way you can!
p.s. don't need to sell the windsurfer... I already kite!.. and again... consider what you are teaching the learners when you kite in front of the yachts at shoal bay... and how quickly you will get all kites banned when you destroy yourself against one!

that's a shame that more boats are moored there. shoal bay is one of the best places to kite in auckland. it's definately the best spot in a SW, similiar to pt chev.

Pole Surfer the reason we were not out at Taka was due to use being at Omaha.
The waves were double that of Taka. Funny thing is there were no Windsurfers out.

You also need to remember we can kite in a lot less wind and way more locations.
So when you dont see us out at Taka. There might be a possibility we are some were else.

I dont teach kite surfing. I said there were guys out learning. There choice of were they want to
learn is up to them. The safety of the sport should be looked at by the shops who sell the equipment and the more experienced guys. The shops are only interested in cash, so its not like we can rely on them for any proactive response.

You lack of interest in the safety of the sport has a conflicting views. In once sentence you say learners are stupid and the yachts were there first. Then you go onto saying this is going to get the sport banned.

Make up your mind !! And stop writing drivel.

Disincarnate I do agree with you. Shoal Bay is one of the best and most used spots in Auckland in the prevailing wind. It is also one of the safer places to learn when the yachts are not scattered down wind of the sand bar.
