Orewa was awesome today!

However, I sadly tore my beloved Cabrinha Switchblade, which I have only had for a year now since new.

The canopy ripped along the centre strut, from behind the leading edge, all the way to the trailing edge.

1. How well can this type of rip be repaired, or am I doomed to buying a new kite?
2. Will the kite performance be the same after repair?
3. Who in Auckland does a good job with kite repairs? (I live in the Northshore)

I feel for you Kitey! Theres nothing worse than looking up and seeing a gaping hole in your gear.
Can definately be repaired. Will effect the resale value but probably not noticably the performance of the kite if its done properly. Take it to kiteworks on Symonds Street or WSP on Barrys point road, and they will sort it. $100 - $150?

Jeepers, that's a lot worse than mine. How much did that cost you?

That was just a part of it. Also had a split right next to a strut that got fixed up. $300 all up. Close to as bad as it gets.
I'd rather be in Ruakaka!

i'll put a vote in for perrin, he repaired a big chunk of leading edge and welded the bladder back together and all in less than a week counting courier from dunedin and return! good price too!
harbour boosting, sideways buggying, harwood speed gps'ing, sometime kiteskiing, wave/washing machine kiting, gear breaking, driving about chasing the wind....

I had my kite repaired by Perrin at Kiteworks and he did an awesome job! I would highly recommend him.

It is hardly visible and you won't even notice it if you didn't know it has been repaired.

Well done Perrin! I will definitely take my kite to you again in future for repairs if I need to. But I hope it won't be necessary....
