Hi there,
i'm coming to NZ in dec/jan and would be interested in info about good spots (flat/shallow water?) could be found and how hard/easy it will be to find gear to hire? I want to avoid to bring all my stuff.
Any ideas ?

Thx in advance.

Frederic

Depending on what you're bringing in, and who you're flying with you should have about 15KG's of sports EQ to bring free of charge.
not sure about hiring anything, here in CHCH you got the kiteshop in ferrymead next to the estuary that might be able to sort you something if you e-mail ahead of time (don't quote me on this though!)

bring your gear mate and get a car.....Unless you are in the main centers there will unlikily be a kite shop around and the only way,in the lower north island, to get on a kite would be to take a lesson.

hey thanks for your responses - good to know that there is no such thing has some sort of infrastructure to hire gear. Quite strange if you're used to that - but obviously, i'm coming to NZ ... and i guess there's enough to see besides kitesurfing.

Personally I'd bring my own but I think www.Kiteboardingshop.co.nz hires both kites and boards. They hire Eclipse Kites and Skywalker boards, and are based in Tauranga. I'd suggest you email them first though.
