What do you guys use for determining accurate tide info? Oceanfun (ofu.co.nz) and NIWA both appear to be innaccurate and disagree with each other, and I haven't found anything else accurate.

I'm specifically curious about the estuary in Chch.

You guys just guess? Or is there an accurate tide forecast available somewhere that has so far eluded me?

I normally base an approximate tide on what the press says.. Might not be perfect but its close enough that you get a decent idea of when you need to head out or not.

What im looking for is something to tell me what the wind is doing at the estuary before i commit to the 30min drive from home..

Hi I use this one for new brighton www.marineweather.co.nz/ just select chch it only gives the beach locations but i think the off set for the estaury is about 30-60mins after high tide in brighton. The most accurate tide time are probably the shipping port times i.e. lyttleton harbour in chch and then find out the tidal offset for the estuary. There are also a few free tide programmes on the net you can set the location and in some cases create your own location if the one you want isn't there. Try WXtide use to use this before the internet got as good as it is now.
