Thanks for your generous offer...
Hum... so people are having trouble getting good videos in NZ? Like what? You mean there are having trouble or they don't want to spend the money?
Because most kiteshops in NZ DO sell the major DVDs/Videos. And free stuff (like Aaron Hadlow sick video) are online for free already.
So, pretty mcuh what you're doing here is encourage people to download illegal stuff. Am I right or I'm missing and misunderstanding something.
Being very involved in the kiteboarding DVD industry it really pisses me off...
You want to download illegal stuff fine, but don't promote it.

I know who you are and congratulations on everything you have done to develop the NZ kiting scene.
Unfortunately you and I will never see eye to eye on this matter so let's not let this get messy.
My argument is simple: kiteboarding companies make very little money from these dvds. A kite alone costs 2 grand, a dvd $30, you do the math. If anything we are helping the industry by promoting the brands you see in these videos.
Illegal file sharing is only going to grow and is never going to go away.
You trying to stop me promoting illegal file sharing is senseless. The only way to develop a market is by promoting it, and the best place for me to do it is on a
kiteboarding forum. A 7 page thread on kiteforum.co.nz and a similar one on kitescoop, there is no question of demand.
On a personal note, I do a lot to develop the kiteboarding scene and like you am very passionate about it. My stoke factor is increased drastically by watching these videos, from inspiration to travel to learning new tricks. Even if the videos were free I have the luxury of being able to download these videos quicker than it would take me to walk to the store and get them. Look, you can even download Hadlow's videos quicker on the site! Something I do however agree on is that there should be time limit as to how soon videos should become available - since a dvd that is high in demand collects most of it's revenue in the short period following its release. We try and monitor this.
If you can provide data so we can do the stats to prove we are hurting the industry I will be more than happy to re-evaluate my Stance, unfortunately you may fidn the results surprise you!
If you want to talk send me a pm and I'll call you from the US.
