TOPIC: Globe Rider and Ocean Rodeo

Globe Rider and Ocean Rodeo 8 years, 3 months ago #1931

Thanks for the feedback on the RECON / Cabrinha 2004 systems. The dealer I have been talking with has actually stopped dealing with the brand based on their performance. I dont seeor hear much about the Globerider brand nor Ocean Rodeo. From what I do hear, these kites are pretty good, but again, has anyone here got any experience with these two brands?

Re: Globe Rider and Ocean Rodeo 8 years, 3 months ago #1958

I see Alex out on his 12 M Globerider lift when most others are on a 9m kite. He is also often out on his 15 globerider when others are sitting on the beach with there 15and 17's. So it looks like they have very good wind range.
They look real good,

Re: Globe Rider and Ocean Rodeo 8 years, 3 months ago #1959

Strange conclusion, I'd say its more likely cause their (globerider) gutless or maybe big protruding gut(rider)
Or maybe he simply likes to be well powered or doesn't have a smaller kite.
yesterday I had alot of fun on a 9m but could have had equilly as much fun on my 13m.

I see Alex out ...

Ah? Ooops somebody saw me
Even if I tend to ride sometimes like an autistic, alone or quite alone at the far south end of the beach, I like to go at times to the Main Beach, just to compare which sizes are used and compare the windranges...

So, in my own opinion, they have a really wide windrange. And I say this, even if I do NOT like to be overpowered, as soon as I can use a smaller kite, I do it, just because it is always faster and much more fun. I have a 9,and even a 7 too so no worries about this... That's maybe why I use my 12 a lot more than my 15. And that's why I use my 15 when there's almost nothing...
Since the GK Lift is easy to ride even when the wind picks up, you don't have to go back to the beach to change your kite...that's all the point of a big windrange.
As for the upper end, the other day at lake Coleridge, I had no gap from my 12 to the 7, skipping the 9... And always riding comfortably (at least with the smile).

Anyway, I would be really glad to let anybody try them and MAKE THEIR OWN OPINION about these kites. Just grab me on the water here in Chch or contact me at alex_at_portnawake.com if you want to get in touch with GK.

Ive been using a Glodrider Lift 12m for 3 months now and can say I really enjoy this kite. The wind range is great with the KPO system you can tune the kite for your stile. Jumps great, good lift and control. The bar is basic with a good tether and safety system that works.

I am a big overhanging gut rider and I can use this kite from about 15 to 28 knots. No problem with wind range or any sign of this being a gutless kite.

I almost didn't post this as I was affraid of putting anything constructive on this forum.

Re: Globe Rider and Ocean Rodeo 8 years, 3 months ago #1965

CONSTRUCTIVE? its kitepimping is all.every single one of us can start that
north this, slingshot that. I'm 60kg and I can hold this 19m in that.... I'm fat and can get going on a 15m in 5 knots...who cares
just ride!!!

Re: Globe Rider and Ocean Rodeo 8 years, 3 months ago #1966

who cares

Seems that someone was interested enough to initiate a topic...
so why ignore or flame any reply ? that's the mysterious alchemy of this place...

However I tend to agree with the "just ride"...

Constructive?
Kite pimping my ass.
Buggs Ubique asked a question I gave my view. I own a North and a Slingshot and a Naish . If he had asked about them I would have done the same. Some people are interested in others views. I agree with "just ride". But why not share with new comers positives or truths rather than this negative shit that abounds on this forum from tossers like you.
He asked about GK, I commented on GK as did Alex who rides them obviously. Have you even seen one? [/quote]

Right on Phat man. I'm not even a kiteboarder yet, I'm just looking to start so I want to get the good oil on some kit I have heard about. From what I have read and what others tell me sounds like GK is a good choice, so thanks to those who got into the spirit of things and gave a newbie some advice. No doubt there are those who have a $ interest is talking it up about "their" brands, but f**k it, just ride, and I'm doin my best not to p*ss you legends off on the water.

Peace out.

Re: Globe Rider and Ocean Rodeo 8 years, 3 months ago #1980

hey george dubya - like your namesake you are an ignorant, piss-ant little cowboy that we would all rather see squashed flat like a cheese and bacon panini.

keep poling and keep trying to keep the dream alive - but do it quietly and not here if possible.

thanks and regards

I must say I enjoy boosting when polers are around. Ive been doing a little bit of kiting at Glenbrook beach with an ex-competitive windsurfer workmate. Apart from the jumps, the thing he is most impressed by is our acceleration off the mark - we are pretty much at full speed after one sweep of the kite. We have gear that fits into any old car, we pack up and generally set up quicker, kiting's far more visually interesting for your average beach goer, we get to the point of basic competence quicker than polers (either that or I was a slow learner when I had my windsurfing lessons), the variety of shit we can do when we are airborne seems limitless, and man can we get some big air.

On the plus side for polers, theirs is a safer sport, they don't need 30m of beach to launch, if the wind dies and they are out to sea they are in much better shape than we are, and they are in the Olympics.

On the whole I think we are winning by quite some stretch.

How come on this forum you people as always saying that your so much better than windsurfers ???

Different sports for different people. Deal with it.

I love windsurfing and kiting but there are plenty of people out there who are not intrested in kiting or windsurfing and because we don't play Rugby they think we are a bunch of Fcukwit Wind wackers.

But the way some of you (not all) put down windsurfers it's like your trying to make up for something in other area's ah boys..........

and suck it!! poleboarding is the ultimate king sport. kiting wouldn't be around if it wasn't for poleboarding!

don't piss off george w poleboarder or i'll make you pay just like my namesake! poleboarding is king. never forget it!

Hi,
Been riding my Ocean Rodeo 12 and 16 Broncos for about a year now. I have no comlaints. They generate heaps of power and I have had to come in a couple of times when other similar sized kites are still out there.
The punch out release takes a bit of getting used to, the first few hours you can accidently release by pushing the bar out too far, but you soon get the hang of it. I am an intermediate rider and weigh 93Kg. hope this helps.
