Awesome pictures Chris.

So I take it the handle passes were flavour of the day!
Any slim chances ?

Awesome pictures Chris.

Thanks must go to Stephanie for yet again putting herself in the line of fire (or should that be water?)

Yup there was slim chance of me making any handle passes! Kane did a few mobes, the most impressive being over the spit. Saturday night saw us, or me, literally rolling around on the floor trying to work out the various combo's.

Not too bad. Air temp was quite warm so you either wore a full 2/3 and dunked to keep warm or a shorty and tried not to plonk anything.

The camera blongs to Gianluca (one of the people riding) it's a Nikon Coolpix something. He's asleep so I can't check right now. Usually we use one of two Canon SLR's and scan the slides. Having Digital is nice. The best value digital SLR around right now is the Canon 300D about NZ$2200 with a lens. Hnady to have a 300mm for the distance stuff (everyone always seems to far away even with that) and a short say 28mm or even a fisheye for the jump overs.

Yowch. None here yet touch wood.

Yep the canon (rebel)300d with 28-85 lens is about (AU)1900 over here, can get them on the net for US$900, which with the exchange rate is quite attractive. I have got a canon 35mm slr with a 75-300 and 28-80 canon EF lens at the moment along with 2x conervtor which should fit straight onto the 300D.

The 300D still isnt a real quick camera and can only shoot burst's of 4 i think.

cheers

I use a Olympus 730 UZ Ultra zoom 3.2 Mega pixel, and it has a 10x optical zoom, equivalent to a 500mm zoom lens!
Works well, gets in close, you can zoom in with videos too, and has a multishot mode 3 per second for those sequences.. works well, they are quite cheap now.
The other camera that looks good is the new Panasonic which has 12x optical zoom and 6 frame per second sequence mode..with image stabliser, 3 mega pixel? for under $1300...
