with great sadness, i pass on the news that my great friend nick has died. throughout his ordeal we had been in reasonably regular contact but i hadn't heard from him for about a month and went to facebook today to send him a message when i discovered the news.

That is sad news Shaan.

I only briefly knew Nick from way back at the start, total respect for him and his positive energy.
Sounds as though he made the most of every second, definite inspiration!

I met Nick at the first Red Bull comp back in 2000, and was impressed by his passion for our sport and for life in general.

In recent years he spent some time in Ruakaka at Mike Holland's place, and despite his health we had the odd session together.

I'm sad to see his passing, but his life was certainly lived to the full.

very sad news indeed, Nick did more in his time than most ever will, a shinning example of how life should be lived and an awesome representative of Kite surfing and Naish, glad to see he rode and flew till the end which was way longer than the doctors said it would be. Ride hard Nick wherever you may be. R.I.P.

Nick was one of the nicest guy to ride with I've meet. He was always keen for a chat and to find out what was going in you life. I'll miss him a lot.

Yes. That's what I remember about him too. Just incredible enthusiasm and a very nice guy as well. Sad.
