"It is, for the lack of a better word, an axe. This weapon is very, very effective, but not at all graceful as most people believe that a sword should be. For its intended use, as a close in "chopper" there simple isn't a better sword. Period."

Nice new site!

And nice looking board!

We got an easterly on saturday so had a fun session going on dark at the beach, it was rad. Such a treat to have some winter kiting here in CHCH!

Thanks Ray,

We have had a good E wind here since Saturday - even got in two sessions on Sunday. Was teaching this morning, and will try for a wave session this afternoon - in the middle of sorting the '09 Scimitars out.

The crew are LOVING the new Falcata, it has a very radical (for us) flex profile and a brand new lamination which is our strongest ever + light and allows the full wood finish. We can also produce any of our boards in a huge custom finishes/graphics and colours.

Cheers

Best invention before sliced bread... a good knife to cut it with!

I'd definitely ride that. Those woodies are pure class!

Glad to hear it - in my limited experience not all woodies are first class and worth the ride! Sometimes a foam core with a good hard edge will do the trick just as well!

Hi Scei,

We build PVC foam cored boards if asked and even some pretty high tech foam/wood customs at times.

Foam produces a more damped ride than wood, so we tend to recommend full carbon layups to retain good pop, or at least some uni-d carbon with the glass. Mike Holland currently has a couple of foam/carbon boards from us with extra rocker and special carbon layup to control torsional flex - he is totally stoked on these boards but they are not for every rider.

We have been building full wood cored boards since early 2005 and are still learning what is possible to achieve in terms of the layup/pop/weight/strenght/flex matrix. This seasons boards are lighter AND stronger than what we were doing last year plus a lot smoother

Cheers

DK

PS- What a Sunday, 20-25knots and sun-shine all day at Ruakaka river mouth, about 6 hours in my wetsuit all told!

So what you're saying is that you have a woodie that is stronger and smoother than last year, but that you're still learning what you can do with it?

I'm glad there are designers, builders, artist etc. out there that are still learning to improve on a good thing. Just imagine how boring the sport would be if they gave up after the first try...

I'd still be hating my old AR5!
