Come on guys - these's plenty of room at Orewa. It was good to see the one of the schools taking the not-so-experienced (I'm trying to avoid the term 'learner') kiters up the beach, so they could do a big downwind run without tagging all the other riders - right on. Expscially good to see just after one NSEK tried to smack me in the back of the head with a totally out of control kite!

Orewa was a bit of a mission yesterday. There were quite a few learners out making the obstacle course a bit more nerving. With the tide being out and the wind light it was hard to stay up wind. If you are learning you may want to remember that there is higher chance of you getting in trouble if you are learning in the main section. Lines get crossed often even with the more advanced kiters. Your will have a delayed reaction time increasing your changes of getting hurt and damaging your gear.

The kite school took the right approach and stayed up wind.. Nice to see..

yea... standing in the same place for 2 hrs (not even kiting?!) right in the path of the more experienced kiters (who are trying to stay upwind themsleves and get back to the car park with out having to do a bitch of a walk), and diving your guerilla kite in the direction of an on-coming kiter- is not the most sensible thing to do. not only do you piss your play pals off... but you get no where yourself!
