TOPIC: Auckland Harbourmasters Office

Auckland Harbourmasters Office 4 years, 5 months ago #15743

Good day All

We have no complaints for almost a year until Wednesday. We had two complaints, each from a differnet beach.
Takapuna, kite boarders going along beach close to swimmers

Cheltenham Beach, kite boarders going along beach preventing swimmers entering the water.

These are the comments received and may not match anything that happened. If you were on the beaches on those days then please give anyone who was being a cretin an earfull. If the reports are skewed versions of what was happening then please be aware of what some people think they see when watching kite boarding.

On a seperate note, we have a new staff member here at the Harbourmasters Office, Jae Staite. Jae will be the main point of contact for you if you have any questions or comments on general matters. Jae is a real kiter as he kiteboards whereas I only kite buggy so he will better understand your needs.

A real kiter is some one who flys a kite Jim so your in...

its cool to see everyone getting keen and starting the way most of us did with some kind of 2 line / 1 line on the beach beside us older kiters with bigger toys, hopefully everyone remembers how it was when they were young and were happy to be included just by holding or flying a kite, they are the ones coming along in a few years. Lets hope the young people get the same chance to fly as we have.

on another topic..
Does the harbour master control everything below the high tide mark ?
e.g. kite buggying is generally carried out below low tide, obviously anything with wheels is a vehicle and most buggies go faster than 5kmph is there anything for land boarders and buggiers to adhere to , is it simply local code of practise can we be included in any change taking place ?
home made buggies, OZONE Yakuzza's , Yak Gts, Methods
Making buggies 50% flying 50%
