i have taken the unusual step of banning BLOWN AWAY from discussion in this forum till further notice. he is a harmless enough character but i just got tired of reading his BS every day. the guy actually outposts me?

plus, i've been itching to ban someone for a while, but probably no-one else would care if they got nixed.

what do you guys think?

do you need to add 'unless Shaan does not like what you have to say?' How can you ban someone who is 'harmless' becuase you disagree or dislike what they say. if he has harmed anyone, slandered anyone then fair enough but it is setting a bench mark which may be hard to live up to - considering the other crap that has been on here.

Not fair, Blownaway has been adding his bit, well maybe a bit more than his bit, but you'd be spending a bit more time online posting too if you'd dislocated your shoulder and couldn't go kiting!
I think Blownaway adds some useful comments to this forum!
Blownaway along with everyone else is just a bit irritable due to the frustating lack of wind in the big city.

Why not have a kite-off? Yous two fellas could get together on, say, Orewa Beach and slug it out with your kites. Who ever's left standing, or hasn't got hauled off by two out of control kites over the bank, through the carpark, across the road and into some poor old granny's sitting room, or even decapitated by the others lines, would be the winner! And what an advertisement for kiting nationwide. Any publicity, even bad, is good publicity! I'll be happy to throw in some money to help set the event up. Who needs a Nationals!

it's not that i don't like or do like what the guy has got to say - it's just the sheer volume of it that irritates me sometimes.

i have to keep up some sort of pretence that i'm moderating this site, which means i have to at least scan all the posts. when BLOWNAWAY was involved this was a full time job, and i learnt about as much as i do when i read the backs of pet food packaging (which i actually do for a real job at the moment).

no one can say that the dude hasn't been allowed to 'have his say' and he still can - he just has to come up with another username and limit himself to one post per hour, and only on topics that he has some personal experience or special wisdom.

the groundswell of support for his loopiness has been noted and i will think twice before banning anyone again. a nameless high profile kiter actually put me up to it and i'll also think twice before taking gavin's advice again.

A light hearted joke about the copious ramblings of a certain member, here over a couple of beers, was not expected to result in a ban.
