headin up to Plantation Island next month for a sun and kiteboarding - anyone been - any useful contacts?

Go to the Boat Boys Bura and ask for Little John. He will take you to Namotu (for a small fee.)

For a down winder back to Plantation Island. John has permission to luanch kites from their beach. Every kiter should do this at least once in there life!.Or you could stay there @ $500 US a night.
Try and sneak on to the waves (Namotu Lefts, Swimming Pools, Wilkes Pass). They are private and owned by the Island resort, reserved for guest only. Secrurity will chase you with jet ski's. Robbie Naish, Pete Cabrina, and a lot of Pro surfers, kiters and polesurfers train there.


South east trades - back beach behind Plantation resort or the Sand Bar near the point.
Otherside of the Island through the cut theres a nice beach too.
And there is alway the show pony spot right in front of the resturant and bar, jumping the bouys and boats.

Somebody else you could touch base with is Will at Musket Cove. Will's a kiwi kiter dude who is based on the island. If you ask for him at Musket reception or walk over to the boat-building shed to the left of the runway - ask for em there.

Will knows all the spots and may even treat you to a down winder if it's on the cards.

He'll just be stoked to have somebody to rip with.

Shane you're so right - every kiter needs to experience the rush of the 7km down winder. Entwined with smoking in and out of the surf... havent beat it yet.

Looking at organizing a trip next winter again Shane, it will be Fiji, location still to be confirmed. But the one I'm looking at, the island is the size of Namotu. The reef runs beside the island, perfect lefts for surfing in the morning and kiting in the arvo's - a bar smack bang in the middle. Cost being reasonable. Could ya ask for more?
