Check out this smooth move.

I would love to see this done by a kiteboarder, Its sik!!

Apparently Hadlow has been doing something like this- on the surface.

And here I am still struggling to make passes with both my hands..

enjoy

there is a video on Kiteforum.tv with Cesar Portas doing a kind of osmosis mobe...

I have been trying landing wrapped and letting go with the bar and then grabbing it with the same hand after landing, close but no success yet.. Hadlow is doing it no worries now but its not a true osmosis yet..looks cool though.

The leash is no problem, you just need flat water.

Depends what wind direction. Finding a flat water spot isn't that hard... finding one on the west coast where the breeze is steady is very hard. There is one that i know of but you need a 4wd to get there... and i don't have a 4wd.

As for the others.. Flat island, Meola reef, Shoal Bay and the Glendowie Sandspit are the main ones. Some of these are certainly not secret spots so you don't need to hook up a sesh beforehand.. just turn up and there will be kiters here. But none of those spots mentioned above are for beginners and Glendowie Spit and Shoal bay get CROWDED FAST!!

Meola for westeries
ShoalBay for SW
Flat Island for SW and NE (spot works in many directions)
Glendowie Sandspit for southerlies and northerlies

watch the tides too. flat island and Meola don't work at high tide. At flat island your gear will wash away at high tide. As for Shoal bay, mid tide is best? Glendowie sandspit works on any tide. Low tide best for channel crossing from Big Bucks (NOT 4 BEGINNERS!!!), HT is best for launching on the spit from the Glendowie/GI side.

That other spot on the west coast is probably the best place in akl for flat water as it gets west coast (ie steady) winds but it involves a 50km drive up muriwai beach to get there.

Anyway dude howz it going? Had much kiting since i saw you last?

PS: One more spot... Whitford creek, nice sandbar just to the left of the launch site, northerlies and NNE winds. Talk to Grant as he lives just up the road from there and is the only one to have kited there.

Haven't kited neverneverland (spot X) yet but doesn't look as it's pure flat water, more like low tide pine harbour styles if you know what i mean.

and what spot would that be?

i can only think of 4 possible flat water spots for easterlies (direction that blew on Sunday?) that would provide flat water out eastside.

Musick pt (or anything north of EB)
Whitford creek (but i reckon that would be crusty as in an easterly)
Cockle Bay - maybe some flat water but would have been shite "PH like" wind.
Spot X - but that doesn't work at low tide which was early arvo on Sunday.

The spot x that i'm talking about is the same spot X that Luke is going on about... we haven't kited there yet and i don't know when we will. Easterlies at high tide (ie when it's shite at EB) works there but i'd rather just go to Cockle Bay which is an all tide spot.

relaxed muscle (Terry??) are you taking all this in? lots of spots that Blair and i are talking about but i hardly kited any of them.... hopefully next time we sesh it up we will hopefully get more wind than what we flew the kites in at Bramley that time.

As for the spot you are referring to Blair... the spot that i said owns anything in akl..... it isn't in akl.

I have no idea as to what secret spot you are talking about but am i right that it's NOT on da eastside?

As for this osmosis thingy.. i know an oldie but a goodie... similiar to your "graceful drowning" move Terry. It's called the "directional sandwich"... sorta what happens when a 7.5m AR5 spirals out of control in 35 knots at EB with the board leash and kiteleash tying me down on top of my 6ft underground directional board and the entire package heading for an old ladies house. i still have no idea how the heck i managed to get out of it but i guess some "reverse osmosis" mite be to thank for it.

thanks Mark, I'm going to print that off and put it on my fridge under the heading 'places to go where when I get half decent at kitesurfing'.
actually, Bramley was pretty flat when we were there, but then most spots are when there's bugger all wind, aren't they?!
Been out three or four times since we met up, but I don't seem to be able to go much more than five seconds before falling off. Practice, practice...
And on most of the very few occasions lately when the wind isn't either 20+ knots or under 8, my fiendish wife and kids have conspired to keep me off the water.
I'm gonna have to:
1) buy a smaller kite for those windier days - that 10m Best of yours looked the biz;
2) kill my wife and kids

well next time it blows a good SW i'm keen on Pine Harbour. currently it's been all these funny directions cos of those storms... even scored some down the line riding at Orewa the other week. 4 of us out too so it was wicked.
