Hi Guys,

The Decay Freeride went well over last weekend.

About 20 people made the trip up to the Lake, and were greated with warm sunny weather on Saturday morning.

The wind didn't really push thru on Saturday, some people doing the down wind run from the rig up area/point back to camp.

The rest of the crew happy to swim and hike the hills around the lake.

Tim turned up later in the day and got a short session in some stronger wind right on dark. This came to a halt rather quickly when a 720 back loop/kiteloop too close to the shore had him dragged up the beach - losing some skin on the way.

The building NW overnight meant a difficult nights sleep for most.

Sunday morning had a gusty N/NW pushing over 25 knots, and with it building by the mintue it was decided to break camp and head for the coast.

My van was the last to leave at 9am, and there was sheets of water blowing off the lake on the gusts - well over 30 knots and basiclly unridable.

We checked out Waikuku beach and estuary on the way back to the city, with both Tim and I getting a short session in the flat water on a shifty NW.

A quick call to the Lynns beach house confirmed that the city was on so we all cut a path to South Brighton.

Cookie was the only one out when we arrived, head high+ waves and 15 knot cross shore. Pretty soon there was 10 odd kites on the water.

The wind built all afternoon with all of us getting our fill of waves and the odd HUGE jump thanks to the lifty N wind.

Thanks to everyone that made it up including Eugene, Ashley and Eugenie for making the trip down from AKL, and hopefully we will see more of you next year.

Hi Decay..

You guys should take some pictures when you have another good session. I have never kitted down further than Lake Taupo. Mainly because I have not been here that long. Would be good to see what its like down that side of the country.
A stupid man's report of what a clever man says is never accurate because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.
