anyone out there use a roof box to transport all their kite gear?

Whats a good brand and size to get?
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I have a Thule Vision, not sure of the litre's (about 350) but holds three kites packed in a coffin bag and one board and there's still room in the box. Even fit a 6ft surf board in there too (by it's self).

The thing you need to consider is the height and shape of your gear or bag/s to go into the roof box. If I was to lay kites flat with no kite bags, I'd probably get another 5 in there. But not practicle with the odds of getting them jammed in the hinges or locking device.

Get one that opens/closes/locks from both sides too.

hi' just thought i would add another problem with the roof box when looking at brands etc.

you need to check if the box will fit the roof eg/ station wagon if the length of the box is too long the back door will not open to full open

i have a subaru grand wagon and i use the thule ocean 600 model

also if you want to cary a bike on your roof as well as your box you will need to concider the width and the length.

there are some deals arround at the moment i was lucky i purchased a box that had a crack in it for $300 and i plastic welded it like new saved 700 bucks lucky eh

Yo , I got Pro Racks and Pro Rack roof box .I have the middle size box I can get 3 kites in there bags and 3 boards in there sweet as using the compretion straps ( witch i upgreded) all up was about $1000. but it great it frees up the car and if I have wet gear I will put all dry stuff in the car and wet gear in the box . I have a Hilux 3.0 DT so I don't notice any drag or extra fuel consumption . Go to repco and grab a brosure.
WOULD RATHER KITE THAN DO A THING ! FULLY ADDICTED , HIGH AS A KITE AND NEVER WANT TO COME DOWN .......
