I wil visit NZ in a few weeks. Does anybody have a tip for a hotel? Close to the beach familly hotel, not to urban near auckland. Not to far from the airport if possible....




After this we will travel by campervan for 3 months. Does anybody have a tip about kitesurf lessons north of auckland for my (not total kite beginner) wife?

Hey Peter,

If your looking for a place north of the airport, with kiting opportunities, and lots of hotels, about an hour from the airport try Orewa:) Got a lot of wind directions covered in nearby beaches, all within 20 mins from orewa. Ill have a lok to see if i can find a website listing all the hotels and stuff. theres a camping ground right on the beach here too.

As for lessons north of auckland, You have Orewa kiteshop anabatic kiteboarding. I think they do lessons.www.anabatickiteboarding.com/

And further north you have Decay and his Crew based in Ruakaka. Pretty sure they do lessons and have some excellent kiting spots there.

Hi Peter,

Heading north out of AKL there are a lot of beaches - takapuna, long bay, whangapora, orewa etc etc etc. Many of these have hotels near the water front. I'll let the locals point you in the right direction.

Takapuna is prob the closer option. Its More city like than Orewa, but is out of main Auckland city.

Its prob 30 to 40 mins from airport id say. It just acorss the harbour bridge. Not sure how many hotels and stuff there are in Takapunda near beachfront. I dont go there very often so wouldnt know....a takapuna local might know?
