and that's what you'll get at takapuna. anything can happen.

'how long is a piece of string' means that the there is no exact answer considering all the variables involved

you can always take a measurement from the center to the end then double it

the conditions in New Zealand are not like a lot of good kite beaches around the world. here in New Zealand it varies...a lot.

what time of the year are you planning on coming?

Having said that it varies, there are also a lot of beaches in New Zealand, and are all relativley close to Takapuna if thats where your gonna base yourself,

Takapuna is good in something with a bit of easterly in it i think.....corrections ne1?? (I have never been out there)

Shoal bay is good for S to SW

But within half hour drive of takapuna, you have Orewa, which is good from a NE to SE and you have Stanmore bay close to orewa for the N and NW, shakespeare further out again is good for S & SW. Basically out on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula you have most wind directions covered. Although i find wind with a lot of westerly in it is hard to find a good spot up here..

So id say, if our coming to New Zealand and you only want to bring one kite be prepared to sit a few seesions out due to the conditions being wrong/variable.

id say for your weight and you absolutley only want one kite bring a 14.....thats just my thoughts.
But i reccomend at least two kites to get some good kiting at takapuna and the nearby bays and beaches.
