Yeah this kite IS the so called Phantom II, the high aspect, balls to the wall performance kite in the ARC range.

Most interesting is the adjustable 2nd braid system - which must borrow from Peter's AP (adjustable profile) 100% depower bridalled foil development.

Fully graphiced/logo'd kites like this are usually pre-production and only a few weeks behind the full release of the kite. Fingers crossed the China production get it right and we can get our hands on them by mid-spring???

Cheers,

Plk does it again. If the depower is half as good as they say... then bye bye bow kites...

From arcusers forum:

I forgot to mention rediculous depower and yes something that even
>the infallible flat kites (that are the absolute "must have "
>aparently) don't have , a huge sweet spot through the range .

>For a comparison Pete was out on the 16 "scorpion" the other day
>waveriding in 10-12 kt ave .He was on one of those silly UG FLX
>152 "aircraft carriers "(urggghhh whata drag )i was on my 19 Venom 2
>with long lines (Urgh those dreadful long lines , how appalling)
>every one else was walking and the blimps were falling into the
>water and not reaunching with every false move .I suppose if he was
>on a bendy 122 toothpich then it would have been truly impressive

That sounds seriously good. Beside this huge leap forward in twinskin development we also have Peter's AP developments on bridled foils.

According to Peter, the new AP system is the next big thing in bridled foils. Meaning that if we were to parallel kite technology, with the development of cars, then we have reached the model T age.

Imagine what will happen when the AP concept is interfaced with twinskins....

Can't wait to get a scorpion in my hands!!

Hey DK,

Yea, it does borrow concepts from the AP system, but it isn't fully functional as an AP kite.

Basically put, it's just the beginning of 100% depower on traction kites, with more potential to be developed.

Bring it on! I was just starting to wonder if it was time to switch ships, but then I had a great session on the V13!! yehhaaa
Hey Blizzad, what sort of range are we talking here? If I can do 8-18kts on the V19m and 16-30kts then will the S16m do 12-30kts?
Starting a savings plan right away!!!

For wind ranges, I'd say from the sounds of things the Scorpion has a fairly good low end, with the potential to be pushed much higher.

sounds a bit gruntier, but the new sliding middle strap means it can be pushed into higher windranges. So yea, the 16m may even be able to give you V19 low end (staring at 8-12 knots) with V2 16 upper end and then a little bit more... Would totally kick ass if it could be pushed higher than 30knots by people who aren't called Craig.

Here's hoping 8)
