I'm planning to visit NZ for kiting in Xmas season. I'd like to stay a hotel just in front of a kite beach and even don't want to get rent-a-car to chase around wind. Does anyone tell me such spot? It is bettern if there are lots of other activities or place to see for visiters. I tried to find it but information of kiting is mainly for locals.

No-as the wind direction is so varied from day to day. You will either be loving it or spewing if you rely on the summer NE. Noumea Meridian hotel (New Caledonia) sounds like your destination.

Yes-sounds like my place, 100m from a kite beach, wind 5 days out of 7 in summer, plenty of other activities (cleaning, painting, chopping wood...), great nightlife at the Kazbah...
More expensive than the Meridien tho.....

heychu Ian is right. don't even go to nz if you wanna stay put at one beach and kite everyday.

you will DEFINATELY need a car. and in akl you will need some prozac as well.

great place to live for kiting but a horrible place to visit.

i have yet to hear a visiting kiter who has raved about NZ. it really is a shit place to visit.

plenty of wind here (infact there is HEAPS) but it changes direction from day to day making it sheer hell for guys like yourself.

go to WAAAAAAAAAA instead (sorry that western australia). Wind blows 25 knots from same direction all the time over summer. I plan on doing the same thing as you (take taxi to campsite/hotel and camping there for the whoer time... best way to go....) I think woodies pt is setup perfectly.
eastern beach hates my guts because i did a big crap in my wetsuit whilst out there kiting 6 years ago. That's why i'm the most unpopular kiter in NZ. Beast from da east reprazent mutha f#$$%@ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great job on slagging off the whole country you frickin idiot. Perhaps you need to look around a bit more.
Heychu, there's a ton of wind around xmas time. Better in the South Island, like Nelson or Christchurch. Zico's onto it

Thrasher you talk so much fricken bullshit you must have your head right up your asshole!! Dick!!

Heychu: listen to Neil, Christchurch and Nelson.
this is a few minutes walk from the Nelson Kite Beach.
www.nelsonbeachhostel.co.nz/

You will be able to see kites up from the hostle.
It's where most of the tourist stay during summer, you wont be the only kitesurfer staying there so you should be able to hook up, with all the Uro's for other close by beach kite missions. Most tourist come to Nelson at the start of there trip and come back for more. A few regulars come back annually. Try and time your stay with the out going tide, so if theres light seabreeze you can still get out on the water in 10 knots.

Check Raglan out to?? www.gagraglan.com/about.php

hahahaha i wouldn't come half way round the world to grovel in 10 knots and currents. does 5 out of 7 days mean 5 out of 7 days of 15 knots and above? or does it include the 8 knot grovels too.

there has been a lot of shitty reports of chch too... and nelson.

as for slagging the whole country off. I have yet to hear of a place in NZ that gets 90% or more of the wind over the summer time over 15 knots FROM THE SAME DIRECTION.

there are plenty of places in NZ that get kickass wind 6+ days a week over summer and especially spring but not from the same direction and hence you will need to drive around. that's what heychu is getting at.

Neil21 and Fear... feel free to enlighten us on where these spots are in NZ that have cranking winds from the same direction at the same beach 6+ days a week over summer?

i will shut my trap if you can name such a place.

Oi
Christchurch in summer, a NE is all we get really. Is all we can be bothered to kite in anyway. Dont know about 5 or 6 out of 7 days but sometimes it blows for a week non stop and the next 3 days you get nothing so its kinda get lucky or find something elce to do.
